As someone who has been following this podcast for a long time now, nothing in the announcement video actually came as a surprise to me; if anything I was surprised at how many of the rumored attraction names you'd mention (Starfall Racers, Oak & Star Tavern, etc.) actually turned out to be right. However, the average person who is not a theme park super nerd per se had NO IDEA Epic Universe was coming, and I remember there was just this symphony of shocked Pikachu faces across all of social media. It was actually really interesting to watch.

Great Podcast. Love how you guys make us laugh out loud. 😂 Here's the answer to the preference order question: 1) Dark Universe 2) WWOHPMOM 3) SuperNintendoWorld 4) HTTYDIOB 5) Celestial Park (although it kind of has to be 1 because you have to walk through it. However, the things I think I'll always do most are Constellation Carousel and Sitting around the Fountain Show Circle watching the shows and drinking a glass of wine. (If we're allowed.🍷)

I’m hoping when all the hotels are available to book that those bookings will indicate to Uni that they can go ahead and work on phase 2 projects! First off, congrats on your work paying off. I believe I went back to the first or second episode of the podcasts and you and Ian were talking about the property, but no announcement had been officially made. And also once we did get an announcement, you correctly guessed all of the worlds and their themes. I'd venture a guess that this will put a giant dent in Disney's attendance to their parks. But I'd venture the proposed UK park will have an even bigger impact to WDW attendance than Epic Universe. The amount of UK residents that travel to Orlando is staggering. By universal opening there is going to cut down on a portion of them traveling to Orlando.

I am going in with very low expectations of dark universe. I am an avid, black-and-white horror movie fan and was initially very excited until they announced what the characters were going to look like. That’s not Dracula, that’s not the Wolfman, and that is not Frankenstein. It may take place 100 years later but those characters are immortal.

In regards to the monsters, I’m disappointed but adjusting my expectations. I would have rather they worked out the rights with the Chaney, Karloff, and Lugosi estates. That being said, I like monsters in general so I’m sure I’ll enjoy whatever Universal comes up with.

I have the same sentiment (though I believe Universal already has a deal in place with Karloff which allows them to use his likeness, which is why you will see it on official Universal merch). Even if they couldn't get the rights to Lugosi and Chaney, I'm fine with more generic versions of the characters provided they look more like the classic versions. I primarily mean Dracula when I say that. He head/face they have for Epic Universe I'm ok with, I just wish it was in the traditional tux and cape.

My only concern is that what happened to galaxy’s edge happens to dark universe. I don’t speak for everyone but I know a LOT of people were very disappointed and upset that galaxy’s edge wouldn’t include any Luke, Leia, Obi Wan, Darth Vader, etc. I think it was a mistake to have them only include new characters from THEIR films. For dark universe, I would be so upset if they had all these new characters like “Victoria Frankenstein” and the like and we got no Creature, Dracula, wolf man, frankenstein’s monster, bride of Frankenstein, etc. I am most excited for: 1) How to train your dragon 2) Dark Universe 3) Celestial Park 4) Nintendo 5) Wizarding world (could not care less about this world.)

My order of anticipation (most to least): 1. Dark Universe: New, unique concept. Looks like a great atmosphere, fun spinning ride. 2. HTTYD: Also new. Great series kinda has that Disney-esque "magic". Roller coaster looks pretty good too, but tamer than the others. 3. Celestial Park: Cool entry, definitely digging the Jules Verne vibe. Starfall Racers looks awesome. 4. Nintendo: I'm most excited for the DK mine cart ride with it's fake track. The rest of it is OK, already seen it at Hollywood. Also not the biggest Mario fan. 5. Wizarding World: A 3rd HP land. Whoopty-doo. At least the facades look cool.

I’m LOVING the idea of the Victoria Frankenstein character in Dark Universe!! As a neurodivergent, nonbinary pansexual, I think it’s about time we start seeing more diverse and inclusive representation in the Universal theme parks. Personally, I would love to see an ALL WOMEN lineup for the Monster’s Unchained attraction. For example, Frankenstein could be replaced by Bride of Frankenstein and Wolfman could be replaced by Wolfwoman. Like, I can’t even…I’m literally so excited for this idea and I think Univeral is gonna do it!! I can’t wait!

The Pizza Moon location should’ve been named Moon Cheese Also question: there were patents that you’ve discussed previously about drones being disguised as dragons for the how to train your dragon. Is there any updates on that or has the proposal been cancelled.

RE the images of the original monsters/actors? I seem to remember there was a lawsuit by Bela Lugosi's family over the Aurora monster MODEL kits way back that resolved that one way or the other.

It was resolved in favor of Universal in 1979, but then the California Celebrity Rights Act was passed in the 1980s that gave celebrities’ estates the rights to their images for 70 years after their death.

I work at the company building pizza moon along with lots of other epic universe content It’s a crashed spaceship landed in blocks of Swiss cheese and inspired by “something funny happened on the way to the moon” classic movie. Iconic red rocket ship coloring. We are also building a lot of the inside for the Monsters Unchained ride which is very gothic with lots of dark brown and gold theming. We are making this Frankenstein skeleton which looks awesome, and we have some foam replicas of Victoria.

Definitely disappointed that the Cassini and Zephyr Market restaurants in Celestial Park were value engineered. Oh well, better to do it to these two restaurants than anything else in the park. Also missing the Cosmic Cakes bakery shop that was supposed to be in the open space between the Atlantic restaurant and Constellation Carousel. That space looks like it will be a flower bed at park open in 2025. There’s always a chance this could open in Phase 2.

I don't have an issue with a generic looking Dracula (Universal's been doing it for decades), and I don't hate the face they've created for the Epic Universe "Matador Dracula" version. I just wish the outfit was closer to the classic Universal Dracula look.

My biggest worry with the Dark Universe land is if they don't go whole hog into the horror/evil monsters. It wouldn't feel right if Universal doesn't lean fully into the dark themes and keep the monsters as monsters.

Definitely “soaring with dragons” is over-promising based on the HTTYD land rides we know. I thought I heard somewhere that there was talk of having “flying” dragon animatronics flying on a wire over the land. They’d have to keep it next to guest areas, without being over them in case anything came loose and fell. Would be amazing, but I could have mis-heard. Having animatronic dragons (or people in costumes) come out on top of the buildings and flap their wings seems like that would be very doable.

Celestial Park...i hope the merry go round comes off better in person than it did on the reveal. 2. Dragons,...just watched the second movie yesterday in preparation . Death and real stakes. Poor Stoick. Can't wait #1. Although I AM pretty disappointed that it's not really classic monsters. AND I wish the world was set in the classic 1930s'-50s period.
