In this video, I compare the new EGO Shopvac (WDV0904) vs the well reviewed Makita XGT Shopvac (GCV04PMUX, GCV03Z, GCV04PMX, GCV04ZUX, GCV04ZX, GCV01PM, GCV01Z, GCV02PMU, GCV02PMX, GCV02ZU, GCV02ZX). Makita sells this same vacuum in a dizzying array of product numbers but they're all basically the same vac underneath it all. You can get it with a 2 gallon bin or a 4 gallon bin. You can get it with AWS or without, you can get with batteries and charger or without, you can also get it with a wand and floor nozzle etc. You get the picture.
I've done a review on each of these now and here I'm comparing them head to head. Who comes out on top? Watch the whole video for complete impressions.
The one thing I don't mention in the video is that the Makita does have a HEPA filter while the EGO does not. Depending on your use case, that could be an important consideration for you.
Considering the EGO shopvac as a bare tool (no battery or charger) comes in at HALF the price of the Makita. Its really hard to look beyond that. The Makita is a great dust extractor / shopvac but the pluses stack up a lot on the EGO side.

The crevice tool can be stored at the front of the Ego. There's a hole under the compartment with the green lid. The floor brush stows on the back of the machine where the wands go on the back of the Ego as well. All the accessories have a storage place with the Ego.

hi Mate! for this long part - there is a hole under this green cover to hide it - just take a look around (not inside this green "box" but under it)

Sure! According my tape measure it comes in at 15" wide x 21" deep and about 21" tall (depending on how well you wrap the hose).

That's not an equivalent battery at all - the Makita is an 18V battery while the Ego is 56V, so Ah's are not the same. You need to multiply the amp hours by the voltage to get watt hours (Wh) which can be compared. The Wh rating is probably printed on each battery as well. 10Ah at 18V is 180Wh, while 10Ah at 56V is 560Wh, which is about 3 times the amount of battery. The batteries should have about that amount of weight difference. This is why Ego is able to blow competitors away. DeWalt's biggest FlexVolt "20V/60V" battery is "15Ah", which is actually only 15Ah at 18V, and 5Ah at 54V (the true voltages). That's equivalent to a 5Ah Ego battery (actually slightly less). I use DeWalt for small tools (60V wherever possible), but won't buy their equivalents for anything Ego makes. I do have a DeWalt 20V string trimmer, and it's frustrating to use due to how fast the small batteries run out compared to the Ego trimmer, which is also more powerful and uses heavier/stronger line. None of the other tool companies make big enough battery packs for larger tools.

In this video, I'm comparing it to the Makita XGT dust extractor which is a 40v battery, not an 18v battery. 40v for Makita vs the 56v of the EGO. The formula volts x amps = wattage is a good like for like comparison but we can't help that Makita decided to use 40v and EGO chose to use 56v for their product lineups. What I can say is that EGO offers theirs for X price and gives this many minutes of real world performance versus Makita which offers theirs for X price and results in this many minutes of real world performance. What users do with that knowledge is up to them. I hope that helps!

@@DanielGoodwin-jq1oc Oh! My mistake - I was thinking the Makita was 18V technology - I have only used their corded tools personally. I looked it up though and their "40V max" is actually 36V nominal - they're doing the same marketing shenanigans as DeWalt. Ego batteries are a true 56V nominal. So, two of Makita's 5Ah batteries would be 360Wh, while the 12Ah Ego is 672Wh - almost twice the capacity. But that said, the Ego vacuum has a bigger motor too.
