This must make you PROUD to be Dutch. I'm sitting here on a sofa in a remote corner of the GB - and I'm thinking: 'Who've we got (as a female vocalist) in this country of this calibre?' And the Answer is: NOBODY. I'm getting the tingles just listening to this. Yes its cold outside - but that's not the reason. One other thing; The WHOLE band is FANTASTIC in this (especially that lead guiiar at 4.46 and the drumming ). And the arrangement is SUBLIME ... This is one VERY SPECIAL NUMBER!

People complain about THIS voice?!?! That’s insane. She’s wonderful. My biggest gripe with Epica is too much double bass. Sometimes it’s more impactful when you let those bombs finish. This is the first song I’ve heard from them with no doubles. Def my favorite Epica performance so far. And, again, these vocals are unbelievable. So much beauty and skill.

some female singers in metal may have better technique, or stuff like that, but Simone has one of the most beautiful voices, such sweetness. I can't believe that someone with voice like this is treated as if she owes all her success to her looks. She is also very versatile. People praise Floor Jansen for being able to do everything from operatic style, to metal, pop, and balads.... but Simone can do most of that as well, minus the growls.

None of the other metal or symphonic metal top female singers sings like Simone Simons. They may sing well or have more potent voices, but Simone's sweetness is like no one's. This song reminds me so much of classical arias, not only as a composition, but also because of the feeling with which she sings it. If I were Epica I would also perform in a more classical format.

Three days ago I went to an Epica concert in my country, and it was so fucking AWESOME!!! Simone sang so good, I just fell in love with her again haha. I felt so wrong to think that she were not singing on her 100%, and I realized that I was wrong, she still sings perfectly and wonderfully, I'm in heaven right know xD :B I just wanted to share my feelings with someone :P hehe

Its really not a fair comparison because there is no way to determine which voice is better. If better means more technical and trained then sure Tarja has a "better" voice. Its a matter of personal preference, but in the end both of them are great singers. My personal top three voices in metal is Tarja, Simone, and Floor.

Before Epica, a long time ago I listened to an electronic music CD called Aria. It was Italian and French arias with the background of electronic music. Very similar to what Simone is singing, same feeling.

Consequently she produces one of her 'top drawer' deliveries, particularly on those vulnerable high bits at.1.54, 2.36, 2.45, 2,58, 3.52, 4..06 I've sifted through the hundreds of live renderings of this where she goes out of tune and people shout over her and the sound's distorted. One of my favourite songs of DYU. I don´t know what you think about, in my opinion, Simone looks really beautiful in the band´s live performances with the makeup she uses, those dresses and the hairdoing, but for me, it´s a very pop look for a metal singer, sometimes she even seems to be ready for a prom night. Guess she must change that look for a "darker" one, besides she don´t need all that make up, she is naturally beautiful.

Three minutes twenty seconds with an essentially siren-like 'solo'.Simone (with nowhere to hide) - before that power backing thumps in and socks you backwards (at 4.06) - followed by that slick , slippery guitar solo. That's true Style. That's Class That's Discipline. That's Restraint That's Structure and arranging Skill ..... That's Vision. @BenjaTooooost I think you have it in one. There are many comments about inconsistency of her singing at Pinkpop. And maye be she was off colour (dont know - wasn't there!). But the common factor in better performances (as here) is ability to be able to clearly monitor mix or use decent pair of cans as in the Acoustic sets.
