If you want more of that, check out Rivers (2023, featuring Apocalyptica on AFAS LIVE), it's as good, if not better.

A really incredible song with so much feeling, I couldn't believe it when Coen started it at the anniversary concert. I just know that Epica is always worth the trip, so glad I went to Tilburg.

A couple of other suggestions if you want to focus on Simone, you can try Unchain Utopia (Omega Alive) or Blank Infinity (Paradiso - not reacted to often)
@Fingolfin33404 ай бұрын
Go do Tides of times (for me there is no good live version on it so go with the studio one) and check her singing in the apocalyptica song Rise again (live or studio both are good (i pref the studio one for once))

When you get around to doing "Rivers", make sure you check the one from Omega Alive! Not only is "Once Upon a Nightmare" a one-shot take (no cuts in the video), it's in fact a single take for both of these two songs. If you listen carefully, you can hear the tails (reverberating echo) from "Rivers" at the start of "Once Upon a Nightmare". I know there are other good versions of "Rivers" as well, and especially the live one with Apocalyptica at AFAS is also worth doing. Why not to both in a single reaction video?

For more of Simone just showing off: Rivers. Any version is amazing, but I personally think her vocal delivery at the AFAS concert with Apocalyptica was pure perfection. I also agree with those suggesting Tides of Time and In All Conscience.

"In All Conscience" is definitely underrated. For a while I was just listening to that one over and over. Helped me to get through some tough days.

Well, the premiere is only a few days ago, but let me already give you a siggestion for the continuation of your journey. "Once Upon a Nightmare" is from the album "The Hollographic Principle". I suggest you check out the title track of that album called "The Holographic Principle - A Profound Understanding of Reality". It's the big song from that album, and probably one of the most symphonic songs by Epica (it is still definitely metal). There are no HQ live videos for this song, anyway, I good live performance will full impact would only be possible with orchestra and choir. There is a very nice fan made lyric video of the song. I uggest you check that one out kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYrPgn2VqZecodU

Dude, been dying for you to do this one, knew it would break you in all the right ways. Simone voice is so wonderfully haunting, and Isaacs guitar work is perfectly complementary to her.
@mikedown32194 ай бұрын
Once Upon a Nightmare was the second of two ballads recorded in a single take for Omega Alive. The other was Rivers which she sings ‘a capella’ with just a choir for backing. It is stunning to listen to the two back to back.

Rivers at AFAS would be the next logical song that showcases her voice. Also, I don't see it on your list, but she just released her first solo song, Aeterna, ft Arjen Lucassen of Ayreon. He worked with Simone on her upcoming album and this song is incredible. Another song to look at is Sirens (of Blood and Water) with Charlotte Wessels and Myrkur. They will lure you into the shallows with their singing.

Great reaction to one of my favorite Epica songs. Inspired by the dark German fairytale about the Alder King or Erlking who steals the souls of children who linger to long in the woods by killing them with a single touch. The male voice here is the evil enchanter trying to lure the young traveler to his side with promises of power and tender care by his daughters. Simone has said the song is symbolic of being stuck in a life without a happy ending and how our innocence is taken away from us as soon as we are born. One of my favorite Epica performances is this 4 song acoustic set at Pinkpop in 2010. Starts with a beautiful acoustic version of Tides of Time, then Solitary Ground, then Quietus, and ends with This is the Time. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4O0npiknN55Z6ssi=o7NaFQbn8mii9C2y. You get to really hear Simone's voice in a very intimate setting. The studio version of Tides of Time is also fantastic and has fantastic instrumentation that you don't get with the acoustic version. I also love the music video for Solitary Ground so you could do a double reaction for Tides of Time or Solitary Ground. Another song where I love Simone's voice is Sirens- of Blood and Water. You get not only Simone but also Charlotte Wessels and Myrkur as mermaids/sirens in a song inspired by the original Little Mermaid tale (not the Disney version) with a dark twist.
