That face in the beginning is what us singers call "game face". When you have to sing a song close to your heart, you need to get into the mode, because if you let your emotions take over you won't be able to sing. Especially while your thinking of the reason why you wrote it ... and singing while your emotional is almost impossible ... She wrote this for her grandmother, and this was their album release show for Design your Universe, so I can imagine how this must have felt. I could see it in her face half way through .... You rock Simone!! We love Epica here in the States!! Wish I could go to your NY show on Thursday!! I have never missed one of your shows since you began touring here in 2007, but I missed this past one because I was gone on vacation ... which sucks because Quantum Enigma is a MASTER PIECE, and my favorite album of yours ... which says something because I love every album!!

Wait... no it wasn't. This wasn't their album release show. You can find that entire show on youtube, it was in The Netherlands. And the song she wrote for her grandmother is Canvas Of Life, not this one.

Canvas of Life was about her aunt if I'm not mistaken and her being pregnant at the same time. Tides of Time was for Mark's grnadmother, who died when they were working on the song.

Con respecto a la gente que comenta sobre su cara y reacción hacia lo que una de sus fans dijo al principio, he de decir que no es fácil expresar e interpretar una canción que significa mucho para ella. Hay que mostrar respeto cuando un artista va a cantar algo que viene del corazón. Si ella mostrara aprecio en ese momento o en cualquiera, la esencia de su música sería distinta. Requiere mucha concentración y no sólo mental, sino espiritual para poder transmitir esa esencia que hace que la música cobre vida. Ella le da mucha importancia a lo que hace y eso lo admiro y la comprendo perfectamente.

I think it should be known that Simone rolled her eyes because this song is a very emotional, serious song and people yelling out like that is rude. She was getting into the moment, as you see at 0:15 . It's not the kind of song you do that for.

¿Quién es la estúpida que grita así? Para mi no hizo cara fea al principio, solo estaba concentrada, y creo yo que se sacó de onda por el grito, no se lo esperaba, la sacaron de ese momento de concentración, aparte la tipa vuelve a gritar después y la verdad está fuera de lugar y es moletso, grita en el momento menos indicado y ahora veo que a Simone por alguna razón le estaba constando concentrarse y de por sí entonar...y claro que sí es diva pero no fue tan mala la expresión.

Stunning quality! thanks so much for uploading! I love this song and I love simones voice but the ONE thing that bugs me is how she shakes her jaw when goes operatic. NO!!! BAD!!! your vibrato goes all over the place!!!! ah well, no one is perect :) Still, this is quite a good peformance :)
