Vixie Merryman in Season 8 when Reid saw his girlfriend Maeve Donavan get murdered right in front of him and the whole team he probably felt that "If we can't keep each other safe then why are we even doing any of this?" feeling again.

@@gabrielsouto6031 Because I see him through the episodes. He shows little emotion here, but we see until then the affection he has for his team. It's always subtle this affection, it's how he is. The only time we really see his suffering is when Haley dies, and it's heartbreaking.

Lolaczyk when Spence cried on JJ's shoulder I knew from the look on her face that Prentiss was still alive. But JJ was still away from the team until the end of Season 6. The rest of Season 6 from "Lauren" Hotch watched the team while carrying that secret alone. And when Season 7 started Hotch was temporarily away while JJ had returned as a new profiler and she watched the team while carrying that secret alone until after Morgan and Garcia had found Doyle and then he had told Hotch and he returned to Quantico while JJ and Morgan caught Doyle and then Hotch heard that Prentiss was also coming back and that was when both Hotch and JJ confessed to the rest of the team about faking her death.

They were grieving her loss like a death too. The weight of having to lie about death to be able to catch Doyle and ultimately save her life. Think of Emily, she lost them all. No one to lean on but online scrabble with someone named "cheeto breathe" But of course she wasn't dead. C'mon. No one bought that. Especially with the way Hotch and JJ looked at ech other despite it not being much more than a glance. Of course if they actually killed off Prentiss.....unforgivable

@@gabrielsouto6031 if anyone knew she was alive, Declan would've found out and killed them to torture Emily. They would never stop searching, so they HAD to believe she was dead, not just pretend. Sooner or later they would slip and then be in danger. Sucks that they had to do that but it was necessary to keep them safe from Declan

@@gabrielsouto6031 Hotch shows signs of remorse/wanting to take responsibility for the tough decision of not telling the team. Like the episode where Reid constantly said hurtful digs to JJ since she also knew, Hotch confronted him and literally said "if you're going to be mad at someone, be mad at me." Plus, knowing Hotch's character it probably did eat him up with guilt, but he also has enough morality to know that he had to hurt the whole team in order to protect Emily. Hotch is my favorite character for exactly that reason; he has strength that's superhuman when it comes to supporting the team, but once in a while he cracks a little bit and you can see he thinks and feels the same way as the team in most cases, he just rarely shows it.

There's also sorrow.. which is much deeper than sadness. There's a defensive mechanism which doesn't ever want to feel that way again. Self preservation. A natural distancing from others. It can feel like living alternate world's at the same time. Survivors guilt is a real thing. Why did they die and i live. That part was harder than actually having him die. Other people expecting or wanting you to be happy.. when you just can't. It takes every ounce of energy just to wake up.. breathing does literary hurt. Some people need to work or be doing something to keep themselves moving forward. Others are not able to function. It's a really positive thing though to hear men talking about it in whatever words they can. Showing support to one another. It's important.. even if just so they know where each stands upon the situation. Especially in the workplace. Men have a great way of being able to switch off or redirect their thoughts. Women can learn from men in that way.. but understanding the differences either way.. helps in the communication process. Women can often not feel acknowledged by men when maybe it's just that they need time to process what's been said to them. Women can feel frustrated if not enough words are returned aswell because women tend to use more words in their conversation. Though in fairness it depends on the man too. Some men are really good with words. Depending where their head is at the time can depend upon their response. Depending upon the relationship can depend on how things are received. What I noticed is I prefered with women not feeling like I have to wait before I respond. Not feeling like I had to watch and consider every word spoken.. that shit drives me nuts.

Not entirely accurate in my opinion. Gideon believed the job was worth it. He stated so to Hotch; “Save one life you save the world”. Gideon just stopped believing he could do the job efficiently. Gideon saw his girlfriend in crime scenes after her death and made choices Strauss exploited against Hotch. Gideon has been a profiler since 1975 which would be almost 30 years by the time he leaves. After the murder of his girlfriend and some choices he made that lead to Hotch’s suspension, holding himself responsible, Gideon finally had enough and left. Also, Gideon knew he wasn’t leaving the BAU hanging since it was in good hands. As a fan of the character I do appreciate the show referencing back to him, even if they miss the mark sometimes.

3:48: Reid: "It's just not fair that she's gone. Its like, if we can't keep each other safe then why are we even doing any of this?" After Emily returned in Season 7 when the team did the case of a dying unsub drowning people and then using CPR to revive them in "Epilogue" Reid had told the team that after Tobias Hankel killed him that he had experienced a "warm light" before Hankel revived him in Season 2: "Revelations." I thought because of how guilty JJ had felt during the whole Hankel case and after she had heard his dying confession, JJ would go over to Reid and smile at him and hug him. Reid: "What's this for?" JJ: "I'm happy that you came back to us." And then Reid would feel happy and hug JJ back. Reid: "Thank you." And then Emily had told the team that after Ian Doyle staked her that she had coded in the ambulance and she had experienced "cold and darkness" before she was revived. Because of how Reid felt in this Season 6 evaluation scene when he thought that Emily was dead and after he had heard her dying confession, I thought Reid would go over to Emily and hug her. Emily: "What's this for?" Reid: (voice breaking) "I'm happy that YOU came back to us!" JJ would smile at them. And then Emily would feel happy and hug Reid back tighter. Nathan Krush, JJ was forced to leave the team in the second episode of Season 6: "JJ." Hotch tried to stop the transfer but Strauss and the upper class FBI people enforced it. JJ came back temporarily in Season 6 episode 18: "Lauren" to help them find Emily but after Hotch and JJ faked Emily's death to the team and after Emily's funeral JJ had to go back to Afghanistan to do her job. So Hotch was watching the team's grieving alone while JJ was away. At the end of Season 6: "Supply and Demand" Rossi got JJ to return to the team as a new profiler filling Emily's vacant role and in the first episode of Season 7: It Takes a Village" it was three months later and JJ was watching the team's grieving alone while Hotch was temporarily away in Pakistan.

@@tracyevans9162 So while the team was grieving Emily JJ was grieving the loss of her baby or am I wrong? She never told anyone about that. I watched the seasons out of order and I often get confused with the cronology.

Jennifer Aguilera, yes JJ was secretly grieving the loss of her baby in Afghanistan. We the viewers didn't know JJ was in Afghanistan or that she had a second pregnancy until we saw her flashbacks in episode 200 in Season 9. Before she returned to Quantico nobody knew she was even pregnant except her friend, Matt Cruz and the two traitors who killed her baby Askari and Hastings. In Season 10 episode 11: The Forever People she told Spence but she never told anyone else, Not Hotch, Garcia, Prentiss or Rossi. After Will was so overprotective of her pregnancy in Season 3's finale Lo-fi, I don't even think she told Will.

Watching this after her return and seeing Hotch’s face was more guilty for what he knew...

I love how just to add how much Rossi hijacked the assessment while everyone else is on Hotch's left Rossi is on the right making Hotch "on the couch" per say

This is much more interesting when you realize what Hotch really knows.

It was good that the only team members who were interviewed for these elevations were: Derek, Penelope, David, and Spencer as I feel like the only reason Ashley wasn't given one was because she didn't know Emily as long as they did.

Derek, in this scene, reminds me a lot of Dean Winchester. The anger and language. Only that Dean would probably be way more angry.
