For the American audience, remember that Australia is just about the same size as the lower 48. Mark is in Queensland (think California or Florida), I live in Tasmania which is more like say Washington state (maybe a bit warmer in winter). I can't grow what Mark grows in winter (too bloody cold).

Self sufficient me is definently steve erwin of gardening. I wish i could afford his galvanized beds they really pretty and unique.
@TheFootbaldd3 жыл бұрын
I got my first galvanized bed this year and it is working great and looking just as good. I used an 8’x3’ stock tank. I did mine as a wicking bed, and plumbed an overflow valve and bottom blowdown valve into the drain bung. That way I don’t have to worry about forgetting to water it. I want to build a couple more but the tanks are up 50% this year since I bought mine.

SO EPIC!!!! Seriously. You and Self Sufficient Mark are literally my two favorite online gardeners! Ha I am from SoCal although I live in South Australia with my husband Felix. Meanwhile my dearest friend Wendy lives in San Clemente with HER Australian Mate! Hahah I have recommended both channels to them. They LOVE you guys too! Fantastic. Great job bringing the Raised Beds to the States, Felix and I were just talking about the fact that the States do not have them readily available. Nice Work. Keep it up. I have my hands dirty today with Australian Earth. Sharing this with Wendy and Jules. They need raised beds. 👍

OMG, I used to grow Silver Queen in the Ozarks in the 70s. It’s the best! I’ve grown ever bearing strawberries but did not care for them. They produce just a little over a period of time and the quality of the berry wasn’t very good. I ended up growing June bearing. More berries at a time ad the quality of the berries was better. Love the affection to the corn plant at the end and love the collaboration. You are adorable!

Great video, guys! You two are two of my most watched and favorite gardening KZbinrs. Kevin, can you either, if you ever have the time & haven’t already done so, do a video on trellises. The best places to plant them so they don’t shade the garden. How yo get the most out them. Plants that work best, etc. If you already have a video for that, can you kindly link it in your reply comment (if you see this 👀) I have a southwest -facing garden in the northern portion of my yard ( 🤔 can you picture that?). Anyhoo, I am planning to start some cakes & melons 🍉 🍈 using 2 x 2s (as posts) & wire mesh fencing or cattle panels. I want to make sure they’re sturdy enough to hold the weight of the fruits.

LOVE Zinnias! 💜💙 Im re-arranging my garden plots. But i have 12 beds, various sizes, all the way around our rental. Im very thankful and our landlord lets us do What ever! Next year I'm going to focus on native flowers. Mainly Coreopsis Tickseed. :) I have full yellow ones and smaller ones with brown in the centre. Once they start blooming, they dont stop until winter. :) VERY good for the pollinators. But you have to dead head flowers constantly. But the reward in blooms is insane.
