Can you make a video in how to deal with common garden (unwanted) critters, like neighborhood cats, skunks, groundhogs, squirrels, mice/rats,and even deer? Just ideas on what a home gardener may use (short of bb’s or electric fencing) thanks! 💚🦉

Please grow solo garlic . Single clove round ping pong ball size . Only ever bought it in Japan supermarket, can’t find it in USA . Other videos are long winded and non explanatory. Culinary pleasing in Asian cuisine , an easy one and done peeling and best when making fried garlic chips . Also Japanese cuisine use garlic stem/shoots/neck , Sold in bunches like at the veggie market ( but always found to be straight !lol). Texture like asparagus/ broccoli stem crunch , mild garlic tastes so no need to add actual garlic cloves , can finely chopped and used like spring onions for garnish . I want to have solos in my garden , please try and let us know how … the easiest and best way please .

@@epicgardening Elephant Garlic always grew well year after year in a wild patch we started in Louisiana. We harvested a lot but barely touched the patch. I ate lots of it raw with meat if I got sick to cure it because I was in a band and had to play drums and sing most of the songs and we had to be there or pay for losses, so. It does work but you have to eat heroic levels. Me and my grandfather ate a lot of raw garlic from his patch when I was very young. I wish I knew what type he had. I went back to his old place and the fruit trees and everything were gone except the oak and hickory trees. I still have dreams about trying to get the last huge pears way up in the tree in fall after I got off the school bus.

Never planted in the rain? Here in the PNW I've done so much gardening of all kinds in the rain, since that's what it does half the year here. I have a black wind breaker w/hood that's water proof that keeps me from getting soaked at least in some places, and doesn't show the mud. Thanks for the video! 💕🌲 Loved the green garlic sniffing slowmo's. Super cute!

First of all I love that Kevin has a knee pad on his right knee and keeps kneeling on the left... second, your entire garden is clearly loving all the attention you give it and the rain makes it stunning... third, I am one of those folks who thought I needed to freeze the garlic and killed it instead... I'm in Hawai`i, tough to grow here but I feel inspired to try again later in the year. Love you both!

I loved the smelling of the green garlic, I often do that with my garlic and basil lol. I won't feel so weird now... I quit digging my garlic up a while ago, and exclusively just use the greens in a permaculture bed of shallots and garlic, it's just quicker and easier to get that flavor from the greens without washing and peeling. The sets lean over and drop on the ground, and I just throw compost over it in the fall. They literally plant themselves!

7:40 In cold climate zones you plant the garlic the same : 1-2 inches down, the ground will freeze in the winter but the hard-neck garlic is fine because it has protective chemistry, much like anything that survives winter.

Great video in the rain! I plan on planting my garlic the weekend of Oct 22nd here in Virginia zone 7A. My garlic will have been in the fridge about 2 months from that date. I grew garlic for the first time last year and was very pleased with the harvest. My wife wants me to grow more yellow onions next season and stagger the harvest, so I'm going to try overwintering several onion varieties with a small hoop frame and plastic. This week we are getting five days in the low to mid 30s so that will be my first test. Keep Planting!!

I live in zone 3 in Canada and plant my garlic in September to maybe November depending on the time I have. If I go any later the ground would be frozen solid! We can get winters down to -30 and the garlic always comes up in the spring but then we can only grow hard necks. One thing that was not mentioned was how heavy a feeder garlic is. I throw everything at them from compost, commercial fertilizer and mulch and always get an amazing crop. I almost grow garlic just for the scapes. I will share anything out of my garden with my neighbors and friends but don't touch my scapes. My favorite garlic is of course Music.
