I always saw Shayne and Damien as the spiritual successors to Ian and Anthony. When Anthony left, the “two best friends being funny together” void was filled by Shayne and Damien. Now that Anthony is back, we get Ian and Anthony getting to do that with the written sketches while Shayne and Damien can do that with the more improv based stuff.

I can only imagine the joy Ian and Anthony now feel actually being able to have Smosh under their control, make whatever content they want and have a large cast of pretty interesting people who are handling it all without them needing to hover. Even more so for Anthony cus Ian was there through all the changes, Anthony must feel like he went on a journey of self-discovery and came back to find the small garden he and his brother planted together has grown into a literal content farm (in a good way, as it's all pretty high quality). I'm happy for them! Plus they literally ARE like the cool parents, watching over, but not messing with their kids' growth, just there for support and to enjoy the fruits of their labor being handled by the current talent.
