10:29 Otto Von Bismark is said to have once to said to the Kaiser that "Jena came twenty years after the death of Frederick the Great; the crash will come twenty years after my departure if things go on like this." He died in 1898. The German Empire ended in 1918. Then in 1919 we get “This is not a peace. It is an armistice for twenty years.” In 1939, WW2 begins.

Very well done, WWI doesn't get nearly as much coverage as WWII, so it's nice to see a series do it in such a compact way. It lets people get a general idea of what happened, and places and events to start at if they want to learn more. I also like your impartiality in discussing the events. War is hardly ever good vs evil, as gas, attrition, and subterfuge were used on both sides.

I'm not sure if you're "just" about the wars and revolutions, but (somehow unfortunately), there's so much the world's history has to offer. I understand this is not what the video was about, but I would've liked to hear more about the role the "states" within the Austrian-Hungary played. As far as I know, the countries that emerged from the ashes, as you so nicely put it, have been plotting with the allies and undermining the empire long before the war has ended. But once again, excellent work, I'll watch the rest of your videos now and then I'll be anxiously waiting for more. Good job!

@SimplyLimbo8 жыл бұрын
+STEFAN9484 i agree ! Thats what i also said in another reply in this vid. You at least understand it ! :-) One CANNOT understand WW2, by just concentrating on WW2; One has to learn about the previous wars and events, to understand WW2 completely. Without that knowledge its impossible to understand WW2, and why it HAD to occur. (like that brittish PM said about the signing of the treaty of versailles:' This is not a peacetreaty, this is an armistice'. He knew the treaty was based on lies, plain falsehoods. (one big lie for example: Germany had to accept responsibility for the war and pay reperations, which were unfair, and unnessecary, while they DIDNT started the war ( Austria hungary, and Russia did... ) But that is one example of that treaty which was a farce and completely stupid ! If it wasnt so well documented and if we didnt had TV, Radio, and today Internet, it would have been another example of:' History is written by the victors' just like a LOT of historic events which are often plain lies... No victorious nation is gonna write about their inhuman acts against another nation, only shower them with praise !

Despite the deadlock, I'd like to think it was Germany at its best during the two world wars. They never gained as much land as Nazi Germany, and the trench warfare did keep things pretty much in one area the whole time, but they HELD onto most of their acquired land for the most part, and was slowly, progressively gaining more until the fresh American troops arrived when only months later the war ended.

No mention of the Battle of Mons? It was the final battle the commonwealth took part in in WW1, and had the final commonwealth casualty of the war at at 10:58 on November 11, by a Canadian.

I thought your World War one series is amazing I think after the presidential videos you should do a series about The Cold War or Something in the Vikings era I also wanted to mention maybe the American Native American Wars or something in their history!!! Thank you for these Videos!
