That story with the different microphones is amazing. I just went back and listened to the track, and you can definitely hear the change in fidelity when he starts talking about the future. The recording is slowly faded between the different microphones in the middle of his sentences. "I wanted to do an album with the sounds of the 50s, the sounds of the 60s..." - very old microphone "...of the 70s, and then have..." - 60s/70s microphone "...a sound of the future." - new microphone, you can really hear the high end open up. Absolutely mindblowing. Highly recommend giving it another listen if you have good audio equipment.

His life story in a nutshell goes like this: When he was 15, 16, he really started to play guitar, and he definitely wanted to become a musician. It was almost impossible because the dream was so big, He didn’t see any chance Because he lived in a little town where he was studying, and then he finally broke away from school and became a musician. Then he thought “maybe I have a little bit of a chance” Because all he really wanted to do was music And not only play music, but also compose music. At that time in Germany (‘69- ‘70), they already had discotheques So he would take his car, and go to a discotheque and sing for maybe 30 minutes and had about 7, 8 songs. He would partially sleep in the car because he didn’t want to drive home... that helped him for about almost to years to survive. In the beginning, he wanted to do an album with the sounds of the 50s The sounds of the 60s and the 70 And then have a sound of the future And then he thought “wait a second, I know the synthesiser, why don’t he use the synthesiser, which is the sound of the future.” And he didn’t have any idea of what to do, but he knew he needed a click, so he put a click on the 24-track Which then was synced to the moog modular He knew that could be the sound of the future, but he didn’t realise how much of an impact that would be... I really like that Daft Punk decided to do this. It again reminded people who Girgio Moroder is and why he is so important to the development of electronic and modern music. I mean, the guy even won two Oscars for the best score and several Grammys, but many people do not know about him. Daft Punk song helped make some new fans, from many younger people. It is funny, but going back we all know so many of these famous tracks that were part of the movies like Top Gun, Scareface, Neverending Story, etc. It is now that I can recognize why a lot of these tracks felt familiar and like they followed a particular style. I guess I just never bothered to investigate it deeper until recently.

I heard this song for the first time a few weeks ago on Pandora. I wasn't paying attention at first and thought it was an ad, but I didn't seem to notice how unordinarily long it was because it sounded pretty good for an ad lol. Finally, I picked up my phone and checked what was going on and was surprised to see it was a song. At that point, the song began to say, "My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but my friends call me.. Giorgio," and I was blown away.

The genius of Daft Punk is that they heard the song in this guy's voice before they even created the song.

Excellent interview, the microphones story: as an artist you are your bar, you set it and if you notice the difference then it's worth doing or at least trying

4:20 he's talking about the GOAT Omar Hakim! Indeed one of the best drummers in the world if not the best drummer alive right now.

Amen brother! The man can play any style like he's a master of the genre. I heard an interview with Kate Bush talking about her 'Before The Dawn' residency - her first live concerts in thirty five years - and she was asked how she approached assembling the concert band. She's a pianist, but she said it was 'all about the drummer' and that if you got the drummer right then everything else would flow from that. She got Omar Hakim.

I listened to it on YT, with my cheap FiiO DAC-Amp and a 15 years old reference headphone made by Fostex for Denon. And the microphones differences are clearly present, each one having its own unique character, each one recording the voice differently, and it's a master move from Daft Punk. As many knows each microphone as its own character and giving voice (and instruments) a different presence and colour: there are no bad microphones (okay some are bad at everything), there's a pairing to be done, that work, or not. If I were to record me talking, I would probably go into the 40s/50s microphone that add warmth and also compression while still being sharp. And I love the love he gaves and he is still giving to Daft Punk. PS: "my name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everyones call me Giorgio" is probably from the 40s/50s microphone, not the recent one used on the phrase before.

This song is an amazing tribute to an amazing person. Giorgio is certainly the one who had the most influence of all in the history of music. And yet, he remains humble and passionate.

I love this man's story. That album saved my life i have to say. I almost rid myself of the light and chose the dark side. Then i found the universe inside me and have been loving life ever since then. Very good musical inspiration as well, i almost stopped playing from depression, Daft Punk, and this man's story helped me get it back 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
