I wish this same studio would adapt the entire Gantz manga. I’m not a fan of the other adaptations However, as awesome as Gantz-0 is, it loses something, bc the manga built up to the Osaka storyline. In this we don’t get that build up. It’s still awesome though. Probably my favorite storyline in the manga

It has its edginess, but still I definitely would like to have the full story animated if it’s done to this quality. This cgi actually is enjoyable to watch and it looks like finally the tech is moving in the right direction. There are quite few scenes they probably could not show due to how sensitive people are nowadays though :D Plus people that have not read the manga don’t even have a clue and probably are confused of what is Gantz actual story about as with what is currently shown there are 0 clues given to what is going to happen and where the main plot point is.

The last part with laser eyed monster reminded me a lot of the Soveregin possessed Saren at the end of Mass Effect. I also think that as i knew a bit of Nurarihyon and the night parade of a 100 demons i enjoyed the movie a lot more than my brother did that probably never heard of that before (As neither of us had any prior knowledge of Gantz).

Here is a spoiler if you have not seen the movie or manga and want to see do not read this. They died in the real world but were revived and forced (if they do not obey they die) to play the game, they can continue with their lives but if they are called they have to go also they have to avoid revealing what they are and have the risk of dying in battle . But at the end of each battle if you are still alive, even half of you can be regenerate and heal . If you manage to get 100 points by killing monsters you have 3 options. better equipment Revive an ally Quit the game If you choose the last one you return to the real world but they erase all your memories from the moment you died. The protagonist had already been in the game but returned. Also everything that is destroyed and dead civilians are restored at the end of the battle.

?? So the ending of the movie basically was saying, because of his selflessness he was always getting killed in the real world and going back to this gantz thing and beating it over and over and reviving everyone all over until he was done then revived himself???

No. In total he dies twice in the movie's timeline, once with the dude you see at the end by a train, and then the one you actually see where he gets stabbed. Basically, in the past, his friends including the dude at the end convince him to use his 100 points to free himself from Gantz and see his brother again. But he dies a second time and returns to Gantz. Now the people who are still there recognise and know him, but he doesn't remember them. That's why the old man knows he has to 'call someone' during their fight and gives him some coins. The reason why they pretend to not know him is so that he doesn't remember the guy you see at the end died, and he won't try and spend his 100 points on reviving his friend and go back to his brother again. But it is in his nature, so even though he doesn't remember his friend to revive, he ends up spending his points reviving the girl who died saving him.
