Very nice finished product. Suggestion: Might want to invest in a band saw or at the very least a scroll saw if you plan on doing intricate cutouts like the one today. Also, Jimmy Diresta uses a product to blacken and age metal. It would work great on your hinges. Cheers.

A really nice project, but why did you use screws for the hinges? The 'pseudo-nails' you made for the lock would have been more of an authentic look or use real blacksmith's nails. You did so much hammering on the metal parts to make them look perfect phps. that would be another visual upgrade to change that screws.

I remember a long-long time ago watching a house toor of some upstart personality and within their super modern mansion they showed this door they specially transported from abroad, which was probably couple of hundred years old. And at that I can imagine Jason saying: Heh, I can do one myself and it won't look worse.

Wow, that must have taken a hell of a lot of time to cut those shapes out. I don't know what thickness sheet metal you were using but metal nibbler tools can cut up to 3.4 mm (10 gauge) thick sheet and would have saved you a whole heap of time. Good job on making those medieval looking hinges tho.

Beautiful work. I have an old chest-on-stand that has some hand-wrought metal hinges similar to the ones you've made; but now, after seeing the process involved to create the 'simple' pieces in my old piece of furniture, I love them. Thank you so much for allowing us to know the process of creation, and to admire what we take for granted. I hope more people could see your work to learn to appreciate and value artistic craftsmanship. Cheers

I do metal work, so appreciate all the work you put into these hinges. They look great. Since I do metal work and have the right equipment, I would cut the profiles on my plasma table and then finish them by hand, saving many hours of tedious labor. Non the less great job, proving that you don't have to have expensive equipment to create works of art, just patience and imagination. Great job.

Glad to see another video from you, Jason! Superb work as always. I’m surprised you went with that profile; definitely very medieval but I’d normally expect you to be more ornamental. I assume this is because you’re going for a very specific (medieval) look for the cabinet? Can’t wait to see it in any case! PS (now I’ve watched the whole video, ha) The way you hammered the edges to “age” them, is that commonly known? Seems obvious now I’ve seen it but I’ve not seen anyone do it and was wondering how out of the loop I am.
@EpicUpCycling

Thanks For the comments Sam. The cabinet I'm building has a very medieval look to it so I'm hoping these are going to work. Not sure how common the hammering is, it just seemed right for these :)
