Thanks! and unfortunately no. You can provide a preferred city on your application but you could end up anywhere. If you apply and get the paperwork in early AND there are many open positions for the city you put as your preference you're more likely to be placed there. but ultimately it is random. the office of education does the actual selection not EPIK and no one really knows what they base it on.

As an EPIK teacher you are not required to pay rent if you stay in the apartment provided to you by your school. If you do choose to live in a different apartment than what your school provides, they will cover a certain amount of your rent as well.

I'm so sad because my last hagwon said they would renew me for a second year and they waited a month to tell me they change their minds. I had a huge one room with a huge real shower and nice bathroom. Now I am sitting in Seoul jobless living off my savings, and tomorrow I have to turn down a job offer in Busan because the bathroom is the typical tiny bathroom with a hose shower attached to the sink. I refuse to live like that for a whole year. Most korean apartments suck.

I'm in loveee with your place btw! Also how do you like EPIK so far? Would you renew your contract?
@amaralush41836 жыл бұрын
@@urkindalame thank you! I appreciate it. This will be a bit long. Epik is cool, no problems with getting paid or vacation. But every school and coteacher will be different in terms of teaching styles, schedules, and added expectations. For example you're supposed to teach 22 hours a week but i only have 21 so that extra hour I've done parent classes and after that i started doing english play club. I know other people who do other special clubs and classes. In terms of whether or not to stay i think, while it's included, the decision goes beyond EPIK and work and into do you like Korea. Overall Korea is not for me so i don't plan to renew. However just about everyone else I know is staying so it depends on the person. Either way it's been a good experience.
