I mainly use Ernie Ball 9-42. I’m trying out some NYXL 10s on my Gretsch. Action was high. Had to take nut down a bit but everything is good now. The first guitar I actually wanted when I got into electric guitars this year was a Gibson, Les Paul custom, but after I played a few of them, I really didn’t like them. I had the $3000 cash to get one too. They felt very uncomfortable to hold and were so dang heavy. That’s how I ended up with my SG. I fell in love with that guitar. After I purchased three expensive guitars, I decided to just purchase decent great playing lesser, expensive ones. This is my first Epiphone and so far I’m really loving it. Now I’ve got to learn some stuff that sounds good to everyone. 😂

Hey Hans. Definitely a great little guitar. I purchased several guitars last year to review and put on my KZbin channel. I really had the intention of keeping all of them, but they are mostly up for sale. I’m going to do a couple of year long reviews for my Fender Strat, telecaster as well as my Gibson SG. I will probably keep those three for sure. If you have a sec, check out my new Ibanez classical guitar. I’ve been focusing more on that style of music for the past month or so. I appreciate you stopping in and checking this video out! Hope you are having a great weekend.

@@TheBeardedItalian The Epi LP Custom is a great guitar. I seriously thought about keeping it. For $260 you can put in the Gibson 490/498 pickups that is in the Gibson Custom Shop version. I would have done exactly that, but I just happen to be a position to buy the Custom Shop at the time. There is a definite difference in feel, but not a $4000 difference. That being said, I'll probably die owning the the Gibson. Subscribed!

Haha that's funny that you keep telling yourself it's the last one. I've done that with some things. That's a really nice guitar. Sounds good to me. Course I'm no musician. I did attempt playing guitar once. Ok here's the story cuz you know I like to ramble on lol. YEARS ago, Jessie mentioned he would like to learn to play guitar. Well, we were pretty newly married and quite poor, so for Christmas one year, I decided to buy him a guitar and amp combo from Fingerhut. Remember them? I guess they're still around, but not as popular as they once were. They were great for newlyweds with no money and a baby on the way lol. Buy whatever with no credit check (which we had none lol) and make super low payments, but with extrememly high interest lol. Anyway. I found that set and thought it would be an amazing present. He did love it. And he attempted to teach himself. Mind you, he's not a natural musician either. As time went on, it sat more and more. I finally asked why and he said it was too hard on his hand. So I decided to not let it go to waste and picked up and tried to play. Had a friend once that taught me a few chords to Metallica Nothing Else Matters. I was still able, at that time, to remember most of what he taught me. I tried to learn about chords and stuff, but I found it to be more than I really had the desire to remember, I guess. So I put it down too. Our daughter picked it up many years later and played with it a bit, but she too eventually gave up. Sadly our no music talent was passed down to our kids LOL. I think the amp might be long gone, but the guitar still hangs in our basement that was once a game room. It's a constant reminder to us that we have no musical talent😂, but can very much appreciate those who do! And that's my story. AS for you, if this is the last one, then so be it. But if you must start again in 2024, that's cool too. You have talent and I think it's quite ok to invest in it. Hope to hear some more tunes from you at some point.

Oh yeah, I remember that catalog! Yes, I think they still are operating. I’ve been playing for a very long time but life throws you punches often times and you don’t get to spend as much time as you want. I’m trying to get in a little something every day, and hopefully can play some stuff for you guys at some point. Thank you so much for stopping by and telling me a story! I bought one months ago from MF. It came from a Guitar Center in California. I thought it would be new. It wasn't. I could tell as soon as I opened it. I've purchased 3 or 4 guitars in the past from MF and 4 guitars from other companies, those were Epiphones. I know the packaging of new Epiphones.
@TheBeardedItalian
@TheBeardedItalian 6 ай бұрын
That’s terrible. I bought a new Gibson SG from Guitar Center about a year ago. Bought in house and it was on top rack so handle very little. Changed the strings out after a couple of weeks and the neck wouldn’t adjust out. So I took it back and they had to order. It would ship directly to my house, but it was used in the strings were rested… So I took it back and they sent me another one in the back of the neck was cracked… I finally found a decent one and another store and traded it in on it. Quality control and these places are not that great. That being said I have had really good luck with Guitar Center and Musicians Friend as well and I do ordering from MF. I’ve ordered about 12 guitars from them in the past year and a half. And I have not had any issues thus far. Even though it is frustrating I still like their customer service for the most part as well as being able to try a guitar out for up to 45 days and return it if you don’t like it. Perfect example, this is my Ibanez classical guitar. I ordered it 47 days ago, but they still let me return it because I didn’t get it until three or four days after that. I’m trading it up to a Tim Henson model. I don’t know any other places that will allow you to do this. If there’s something wrong with this new signature model, I will simply just send it back and keep trying. My brother uses Sweetwater exclusively on his higher in bass guitars because they do check out merchandise before shipping.

I won't deal with GC no more because of an issue I had with one of their employees. I took a new guitar in, never played, to sell. The employee tuned it up, put a strap on it and started walking around the store. I lost eye contact and went looking for him. Found him and he was flipping a toggle switch repeatably. I asked him to stop it, then he told me they couldn't buy it because a toggle switch was broken. DAH. So, packed the guitar up, went home and called GC headquarters, talked to someone, told them what happened and watch the store cameras. To show I was telling the truth. Never heard back from them. Plain and simple, I believe that employee broke the switch. It wasn't broken when I took it in. I paid a little less than $1200. Nope, I won't buy anything from Guitar Center anymore. I definitely will deal with Sweetwater, their a better class. MF is also a better class than GC, even though GC owns MF. Funny thing is, this guitar was purchased from MF in Kansas City, Mo. The guitar is a Dean Gran Sport Double Neck.

Wow, my friend that is an absolutely horrible story! I definitely think that musicians friend are a lot better when it comes to the customer support area of their business. Sweetwater is probably the best. They do a very very thorough job of going through the instruments before they ship out. Especially the more expensive ones. I have had very good luck with musicians friend And end up racking up points so I keep going back. It is good that they offer a 45 day period to try the equipment out. And if you don’t like it, you can simply return it for a full refund or trade it on something else. If it’s defective, then of course they pay the shipping back. I ran into an instance, one time where they wanted me to pay the shipping because I simply didn’t like the guitar and wanted something different but what I was buying was more expensive, I talked them into taking that off of me. This guitar here that the video is over came from musicians friend, and it was solidly in mint condition and I purchased the brand new case to go with it. It’s currently on the market for sale. There’s nothing wrong with it. I just have too many guitars and I’m only keeping my favorite two or three. so glad you stopped by my channel and commented here. Definitely good luck in the future with all your gear purchasing endeavors.
