P-90's are perfect ... if they come with a wraparound bridge, this add a metallic bright edge to the overall tone. I don't like the limited brights so whenever I got my hands on a p90 loaded guitar, I go with the treble bleed mod. It's like 3 gtrs in one: Tele, Strat and Epi, tonewise speaking. Great odd color you got there. Cheers !

The scarf joint seems to follow the curve of the headstock where it meets the neck. My Koa top Custom has it. It’s very different from the old scarf joint and very well hidden.

I have 4 SG's and this one ( the same as yours) I really like, it just sounds so great. I am a blues player and I love playing this one for that style and even for heavier blues like Cream and Sabbath stuff. I just got a Laney black Country customs Tony Iommi range master/ distortion pedal and I am getting some really great Sabbath style tones from it. Love this guitar and the price was like nothing.

I just got mine. 12 frets were high unfortunately. It was "refurbished" so it came as is, no returns. Did a quick (5 hour) fret level/polish and a fresh set of light top heavy bottoms and this thing is screamin!

I have like 15 guitars that get rotated pretty regularly. And a few more in storage that just dont get any use. Yet I dont have anything with p90s. Which is stupid because I love the sound of p90s and I'm quite certain they suit my playing style dynamically. That said I just ordered this guitar from sweetwater.

how were the frets, nut, etc? did it require fret leveling to get playable?

I would prob have told my friend to send it back if fretwork was needed...nuts are usually a little high on epi's,but this was ok. I just lowered action and intonated.

The pickup bridge is in the correct position for a vintage SG Special, compare it to a late 60's original or a Custom Shop 63 SG . The Gibson USA SG special's Bridge pickup is closer to the bridge, I recall someone saying it was placed closer so it was better suited to high gain tones? BTW I have a 2 of these guitars( one of each colour) and love them. Cheapest guitars I own, but I play them the most!

My gibson usa SG special has bridge pickup closer to bridge as well as neck pickup closer to neck...the Epi felt cramped to me a bit.

Great playing first off, I got a Pelham blue one just over a year ago , played it for a week and promptly put it in the closet. Not because there was anything wrong with it, imho it’s an excellent guitar and so cheap .I was just angry with China and took it out on the guitar which was pretty dumb, it’s so ironic they can can make awesome guitars like this sg and pretty much rock music and rock bands are banned over there., it’s a crazy world we’re living in !
