I often use my Sheraton at high gain settings when I'm trying to nail the early Rush sound. I'll never be able to afford a Gibson ES-355 like the one Alex Lifeson played in those days, but this guitar does the trick very nicely!

First of all, I want to thank you for showing the clean tones that this guitar can deliver. Sort of a breath of fresh air considering most of the KZbin videos I see. Having owned a 335 back in the 70's, I had a pretty good idea of what the Gibson could do. But within 10 minutes after sitting down with the Sharton, I knew it was going home with me. Gibson has no lock on quality as far as these semi-hollowsare concerned. The fit, finish, and playability of the guitar were just icing on the cake.

To me, the Epiphone Sheraton is equivalent or (slightly) better than the Gibson ES-335. I could easily take a couple of paragraphs to describe how beautiful this guitar is. Instead, all I will say is that this is something that Epiphone has to be proud of.

There's a side-by-side with a Gibson somewhere, and it compares very fabvorably, IMO. Definitely some tonal distinctions in some ranges in some settings, but I can't say I like one more than the other. I do prefer less ornate appointments, but Epiphone carries it well. Only change I would make is adding a Varitone (type) switch, which I have on all of my electrics -- guitars, basses, and baritone.

I've had 2 of them, a '92 Korean Sammik model in Natural finish, which I let go. It was a nice guitar; but the pickups were a bit muddy to my ears, and the gold colored hardware became tarnished. And the neck heel joint wasn't sanded enough. But it was fun to play. Recently, I bought a new Pro 2 Ebony model, and it's a big upgrade. The pickups are much more articulate, it plays great, hasa beefier neck, & ii's my most gorgeous looking guitar ie. it's stunning.

I really appreciate that they went with "aged" white plies on the pickguard, so as to match the binding. Gibson/Epiphone typically uses bright white, which is "vintage correct", but looks awful. These have been very nice guitars since the upgrade to the ProBucker pickups a few years ago. I have ALMOST pulled the trigger on one several times, but, I find the neck uncomfortably thin and I have an aversion to gold hardware. Nice, thorough review.
@mkrj25763 жыл бұрын
It’s a great guitar. What amp settings? Treble up high? Mine in full hum bucker mode sounds less bright than yours but probably just my amp settings. Very versatile guitar. Covers a lot of music. The coil splitting feature is something I use a lot. Just a bit heavy hanging from your neck after an hour or so. Was thinking about trying an Epi Les Paul modern but afraid I’d loose some of the great Sheraton tone.

For the Buck this is a Great Guitar, you may have to look into getting the Electrics sorted on it at some point as I had some issues with that stuff but it’s expected, maybe some soldering and a new switch at some point but that’s the only thing I had to sort out, the intonation and feel of it is great and it has that great resonance that you get from a semi hollow body , Really Really impressed with mine it’s also very versatile, ⭐️🌞👍🏻❤️

@MooreMusicGuitars3 жыл бұрын
I have to say, if a guitar is balanced, I rarely pay much attention to the weight. I switch between a 69 Les Paul that's 10 pounds and other guitars ranging from 6 upwards and if they're balanced on my strap I think I've learned to ignore the weight. The Sheraton had a bit of heft to it, but no more than a 335.

@@MooreMusicGuitars Hi, I am also strugling with the weight, mainly because it is head heavy! so I ended some years ago to buy a ES 339 for playing in my band, it has a better weight balance, but the sound is not the same. I am considering a SIRE, Larry Carlton H7

Hey Epiphone, why no newly introduced '62 headstock, now used on most Epiphone guitars, on the Sheraton? That HUGE "clipped" cornered headstock is, and always has been, so disproportionate, on the "thinline" Sheraton guitars! The newer "more Gibson like" headstock, which is very much like Epiphone's original '62 versions, would be a most welcomed change, IMHO, for the Sheraton II Pro, as well! Just curious, WHY they didn't use it on the Sheraton. There was a '62 Reissue Sheraton, some years ago, that looked (finally) like it should, with the smaller headstock! But, it was a "Special Run" version only.

Just got one of these a couple of weeks ago and after a little setting up absolutely love it. I've watched a bunch of videos on the Sheraton II Pro but yours is the first to really spend some time talking about the pickups, which I appreciate. It has much more bite and mojo than my Epi 335, and the variety of tones is really impressive. I find myself using the split coils all the time. Also, the neck is really comfortable (yeah, it's definitely a D-shape) and the fretboard is a 12" radius. It is kind of a heavy guitar, but no complaints.
