Happy New Year Dan! What a treat to have your first 2024 video drop on my birthday morning. I did look at doing an over-nighter in Weymouth recently to do exactly that - lerfing. I shoulda gone but put it off. Now I'll look at it again. Brixham is on the cards too (Early April) I look forward to following your 2024 species hunt. Looks like it started on an excellent new interesting species that I've never seen before. Tight lines sir! 🎣🐟

Happy Birthday! Weymouth is always worth a visit. Brixham is great if you're happy climbing on dodgy slippery rocks but Weymouth is a hell of a lot easier. Not sure I'll hit 60 again this year but will be interesting to see if I can get 50.

Thank you Keith. I'm not one for staying put haha. Glad you enjoyed it though. I try and make the videos a watchable mix of fishing and the surroundings. Have a look at this one if you fancy another. Had Black and Gilthead Bream in one session at Weymouth. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHqpoICVoMyJqcU

Thank you Keith. Don't forget to Subscribe haha. Nice meeting you again. That's the last three times I've been I've seen you and only fished there 5 times. 5 species from one spot is good going. You need to modify that scooter so you can fish as you drive along. You'll be hauling them in.

Hey Dan, we met at Radford a couple days ago. Thanks for sharing your time. Any tips on where to get good tackle and what tackle to get started?
@LRFandHRF Жыл бұрын
You're more than welcome. I'm always happy to help someone that shows a genuine interest. Onthedrop.co.uk is a good place to look. If you message him he will happily help you with buying the right things if you get stuck. The beauty of LRF is you can start very basically. Just some hooks, isome and splitshots. Check out the channel LRF Tutorials. I shot and edited it while my mate Lee was the face. The Goby one is well worth watching all the way through. And this one should help you get started. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYrIin-bj9xgidksi=M3DPW2W_XAQtRmXU

Great video. Is there a reason you don’t do a voiceover? Would have loved to hear the excitement in your voice when the clingfish and species no 10 were caught…
@LRFandHRF Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊. The content I make is about the fishing rather than me if that makes sense. I wanted to slow the video of the clingfish down too so my reaction would have been in slow motion
@paulhopper988 Жыл бұрын
Great video Dan, well done. Can I ask what Gulp Isome you generally use, Futomi or Hosomi ?
@LRFandHRF Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I only use Hosomi. 99% of the time in clear camo but in murky water camo or bloody red. I just love the size of Hosomi. You'll catch big fish on a little worm. But won't catch little fish on a big worm. If that makes sense?
@rhyswilliams1413 Жыл бұрын
Cracking video. What a session. Excuse my ignorance by why did you swap to a split shot rig for the sand smelt?
@LRFandHRF Жыл бұрын
Thanks. They like to follow the isome mid water. You can get them swinging a dropshot back, I just find it a lot more effective using a splitshot. Only takes a couple of seconds to swap so quickly switched them over.
@rhyswilliams1413 Жыл бұрын
Thank you. Do you use loop to loop connections for your braid to rigs?
@LRFandHRF Жыл бұрын
I tie the leader straight to the braid with an Albreit knot. I don't pre tie them. I just do them as I fish
@karlstokes874 Жыл бұрын
What a great little session. I honestly reckon you'd catch from a puddle in the road Dan. 😂 Do you make up your drop shot rigs in advance and attach them to your leader with a knot/micro swivel ?
@LRFandHRF Жыл бұрын
Haha. Thanks. I just tie the leader to the braid with an Albreit knot then tie the hook on. So Much quicker than fiddling with pre-tied ones I think. But each yo their own. I never use a swivel. Just a hook and weights. It's one less thing to leave on the seabed if you snap off
@karlstokes874 Жыл бұрын
@@LRFandHRF thankyou. So each time you change rigs you tie on a new leader 👍 Keep up the good work
@LRFandHRF Жыл бұрын
Only if I snap off. But say from s dropshot to split shot and back I just cut it at the hook and re-tie. Then the same in reverse. If that makes sense?

Hi Dan, I'm fairly new to LRF and to your channel, do you know if there's a laminated Identification card available somewhere with all the different salt water LRF species' on as I'm struggling to identify all the different ones, thanks mate
@LRFandHRF Жыл бұрын
I've not heard of a laminated card but there is a very good book at the link below. Worth every penny. I'll be honest though. I am only just over two years in and had all of mine identified by people in The Big Lerf Group on Facebook. Great bunch and always happy to help. We'll worth joining the group. Its a group where no question is too small. And you won't get stupid answers if you ask. Book. amzn.to/3NSMA7V Big Lerf Group. facebook.com/groups/544515226553099/?ref=share
