This is the most powerful speech I have ever heard and one of the few that I have listened every word. I have listened to this speech several time and I am moved each and every time. This should be played at every school assembly to get our children to realize that they are individuals and not copies of people around them. They need to learn from their mistakes and forgive themselves and become the brightest constellations of their lives. Love and Peace from Kentucky (PS: I read somewhere that this speech is taught in some classes in Korea.)

What does BTS mean to me? Everything. And when i say this people look at me like i'm just a fangirl fangirling over a boyband. But I mean it. BTS tought me how to love myself, they inspired me to be a better version of myself. Before i found out about them, i was a cold person. I didn't like people, being the center of attention, I was alone all the fricking time. And i wasn't alone because i wanted to. I was alone because i was scared, I was scared of people. I didn't love myself or anybody else. But BTS made me realise that the most important thing in my life is me. I started talking to people, I made friends, I started loving myself and that is all because of them. The 7 guys from Korea made me a better person. And although i never met them i consider them my best friends, my EVERYTHING. Laura, from Slovenia

Their message is so simple. Sometimes one wonders why no other artists thought of reaching out like they do, use their platform like they do. What kind of artists declare their mission like they do on their logo: MUSIC and ARTISTS for HEALING? It’s mind-boggling. The sincerity is almost naive... and yet, as you will hopefully discover, their music, production and performances are on such another level that you gotta take them seriously. Go watch their MMA 2020 performance on their Official YT channel. Then work your way back to 2019 and 2018 MMA stages.

I always forget just how impactful his speech is, and it's all in /how/ he delivers it. I have watched this speech countless number of times, and I *still* get choked up & misty-eyed with emotion during parts of it. This man is a whole rapper, M.C., poet, AND philosopher; the kicker is that it's just HIM, being himself. This is all 100% genuine, and he has found so many ways to honestly convey that sincerity. ahhh, it's just so heart-warming to know not just anyone, but those men there [BTS], are rooting for me, for all of us, in whatever obstacles we face.

If you pay attention to RM (all his behind the scene videos) RM just laughs when he is sad and angry. You could clear see that at the concert, he laughs when he actually wants to cry when touched by the ARMY. Love him so much!

This speech is still one of the best I've heard. I think I felt a stronger impact from it bc I've watched RM go over a lot of points he makes in the speech previously in his vlives throughout the years (and a lot of these are points he's also revisited time and time again, sometimes changing his mind on parts or expanding his understanding on others), so it's clear this was really personal for him. And the speech includes references to many of BTS's lyrics, which he is credited to writing a lot of, so watching all that cumulate and result in this moment was remarkable to witness. Just being able to see how these guys grow is a humbling experience and I can't help but feel proud of them too.

About RM learning English by watching Friends. It was a program set up that his mom purchased when he was in middle school. The complete show, all seasons, with English and korean subtitles... First, he watched all seasons with Korean subtitles, then rewatched with English subtitles, and finally, without subtitles. In other words, he actually studied it. He's said in vlives that he was really good at studying and that's all he did until he came to realize that he didn't know what he was studying for... Check out the lyrics to N.O. That's what a lot of their early songs were about. And yes, his speech was and is really moving. When they were filming BTS Run in Canada, he was writing and rehearsing this speech. You can sefe it in Behind the Scenes clips, which includes a late night flight to New York just for this appearance. By the way, they were sitting next to the First Lady of Korea before getting up to go to the podium. They met many VIPs during this stop.

Think about the big responsability BTS and Big Hit has. Preaching about self love, had work, about so many values it's not easy if you don't set the sample. I call them the New Era Heroes, they really want to make the world a better place. My world is a lot better since they are in my life.

some of speech words may associate with Rm himself. RM literally did stop his heart beat when he was small. ppl said that he loved rapping because he need to breath. when RM was in the hospital, someone from the same underground rap group with him posted on the net, saying that the guy really really loved rap, and it would be a pity to send him to heaven as RM was only a little boy.

"I used to imagine that I was a superhero who could save the world." - Anpanman !!! 2:35 or so When he talks about their lyrics about his heart stopping when he was 9 or 10 years old - there is _unconfirmed_ rumor that he had a open heart surgery few years later.. Also he himself has said he started writing music at 13 years old.. 3:50 "But it took me quite a long time to hear music calling my real name." Says RM whose stage name is initials of Real Me. * I love this man for his thoughts. And I'm not alone. They gave the speech NEW YORK, 24 September 2018 and _in less than two months_ that speech was already used in school books, material for teaching and even in test material in schools all over the world. (There is several articles about this if you want to see - I checked my date's from UNICEF's own page and searched the articles to see their publication dates with [BTS RM UN speech used in schools].) (You might want to do that too! 💜💜 That message never gets old. Like none of the other BTS message's either starting from Be You..) Love You! You are awesome ! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

As of today, 4,600+ people heard the entire speech because you chose to listen. I think these are profound words from a young man. “I lost myself at age 9 or 10 and began to worry what others thought about me. This continued until I woke up and realized I’m uniquely me and I don’t have to conform to what others expect. I make mistakes and I learn.” (Paraphrasing what I heard). IMHO this is the most difficult lesson to learn. To forgive ourselves as we learn and grow. To break from the mold expected of us and live our lives being the best we can be. In my 71 years I have strived to embrace this and it ‘taint as easy as it sounds.

It's amazing because most big artist have a hard time taking accountability for the affect they have on their fans or some do the opposite by, for example, getting very political and pushing it on their fans. Facts: a long time ago RM was acused of being racist, he was, in his culture is a natural thing to think that people with lite skin is more beautiful, etc. He even used a nazi symbol in one fotoshot once... I can't really give the context... there's a lot of mistakes in BTS past... However, as He said, he learned, he asked sorry for everything that he did, sometimes even without realizing, but still.. so, a few years later, after traviling around the world and with the "love yourself campain" He tried hard to show how diferent his mind was...
