I loved those ads very classy very intriguing the photos suck you in like you were there too and you did want to be there interacting with the characters and driving the cars this was the era of the ad executives or “ Don Drapers “ of the day just like watching Mad Men you could really get lost in those photos and interact with people places things that did not exist the fine print always said Artists rendering but there really were places & people & cars like that awesome it worked because it made people really want a new Pontiac and they went out and bought those cars which was good for the car companies & dealerships & customers because everyone needs & deserves a new Car even though they are going in debt to do it keeping up with the Jones’s bad ? Mmmmm yeah but ya only live once and ya need a new safe reliable car to get to work or school or where ever

Those AF/VK ads are what hooked me into Pontiacs as a child, the imagery was irresistible. Mid to late 60’s fullsized Pontiacs were wonderful cars. The 63-66 cars were on the top of their game style wise, 67 was interesting and the two door hardtops had a stunning roofline, but not overall beautiful in the way of the 65-6. The 68 wasn’t well done, the front looks awful with that Edsel nose and the back had a poorly detailed look. 69 was much cleaner and the body color nose was quite nice, unfortunately though 69 was the year of all GM’s getting cheap plasticky dashboards. The 70 front end is best left undiscussed.
