Episode 1: Drumsticks

On this episode, we make drumsticks. Well, one drumsticks. Let's face it. The editing kind of sucks. Nay, totally sucks. We'll get better with that as we get better at turning.
This is the first video where I made something, though. Those setup videos are just fluff. Here is the meat.

maybe knock off the corners with a plane first, helps alot. Also support the wood in the center with a wood block (you must round the wood first) or use something for bearings in middle (two inline skate wheels mounted on a support)

I still have my first turning, a bowl from a basswood crotch I found and it's ugly as hell, haa haa. But it's my first project and I'm proud of it. You guys (band) should write a song about first tries and use that drumstick when playing it... sort of a tribute to expanding ones horizons or something deep like that. Good job!

+Ted Weddell (A Work of Wood) My drummer always uses the sticks I made him. I've got some more maple that I used so hopefully I'll have time to crank a couple more out for him. In the upcoming videos, my guitar player made up the theme song. Also, there might be nothing uglier than the phrase "basswood crotch."

+As The Wood Turns Yeah, it does sound like a bad disease, LOL! And actually, basswood (linden tree) is not the prettiest wood to start with. I've since learned to look for maple, oak, elm, etc... when scavenging for wood.
