Great to see so much positive input. I did a similar ride in June this year, I landed in Cherbourg and rode down to the south of Spain, solo age 67. Found it a little lonely from time to time and I was becoming more and more ill. After 3 weeks in the saddle I made it home and straight to hospital, multiple blood clots on my lungs and pneumonia....just new I wasn't well.......lol😅 on the mend still...enjoy the ride brother.

Me and my mates did that ferry both ways in the summer, I'd definitely recommend paying for the commodore lounge if they have places. You get food and soft drinks all day plus wine etc. Worked out much cheaper than pay-as-you-go in my opinion and you have a nice view up the front of the ship.

@@jamesfleming7746 Hi James, if you are fit and not in a hurry you can do it. I am 68 and have done two long trips this year. The longest was about 5,500 miles and was 4 weeks. From Costa Del Sol, Spain (where I live) through Spain and France to Cherbourg. Then ferry to Poole followed by journey to Airdrie, near Glasgow, Scotland. Then a similar journey home. I did a few 400 mile days, but also had longer stopovers, (2 nights in Madrid, 7 nights in Biarritz, 10 nights in Airdrie). All this on my 35 year old BMW K75. Before covid I did several trips to Morocco on the same bike, including to Merzouga (Sahara desert) and accross the top of the High Atlas mountains. Enjoy your biking!

Steve, age should only be a number! My wife and I, (both in our 70's) purchased a new BMW GSA in March this year and rode from Sheffield to Tetouan (Africa) in June this year - our first ever tour on a bike and have eaten out on the experience(s) ever since. There's nothing to go wrong and if it does it can always be put right. Just go for it and live life 😊

Superb, I went from Stirling to Portsmouth, then the ferry to Bilbao, a few years ago, solo. Met a guy on the ferry, asked if he fancied some company, he was delighted, so we rode to Madrid, took a hotel for the night then on to Fuengirola the following day. So this video brought back some great memories. Look out for radio blocking transmissions from military and other sources folks, it stops the signal from your key fob getting to your bike, and you can't start it !

In 2014 we took our 1250 fa to the algarve, where it stayed for 5 years, we did the ride in 3 days which on reflection was too long. We stopped at Salamca (spelling) for one night. We did intend to go to Morocco, but never made it, good luck and take it easy. Note that we were robbed in a petrol station in Spain, but the people threw our tank bag out of the window when a pump attendant stood in front of their car.

You can't take a drone into Morocco, so I've left mine at home. Yes, it's the mini and it's tempting to put it in the tool compartment under the seat, but if you get caught it's a hefty fine and confiscation so I'm not going to risk it.
