Interesting that MDR affirms the connection between rationalism and mysticism, especially since the whole thing about the appearance of multiplicity stemming from confusion 100% sounds like something Shankara said. I feel like it's the wrong approach though. The explanation is based on the distinction between clear and confused conceptions/perceptions, and if this is right, then it's really not true that MDR rejects *all* distinctions. From the POV of such a total monism, I think it makes more sense (for the monist) to say that there are no distinctions between single reality and multiplicitous appearance. Though I suppose such an erasure of distinctness would need to be justified by some philosophical argument (as opposed to merely stated in order to cohere with the theory).
