Those variegated Portulacarias have a mind of their own. I have one that has done nothing and a cutting of that the same tree that’s doing splendid. They seem to want to cascade as they grow. Grow the cuttings and see if they do anything. The one that is doing the best that I have is growing in a small pot with severely restricted roots. Bare In mind I’m in a hot dry climate (Australia) Goood luck.

I have too many tropicals for the indoor space I got so I don’t keep the cuttings. They do root super easy though, I have not had issues as far as growth goes… so far haha

Nice trunk developing on this one. This species is quite interesting. Nice work Xin. It’s developing nicely. Thanks, keep growing

Yes they root very easily, one can become many in time!

Hi Xin! 100 videos… what a milestone! Thanks for sharing your thinking process while pruning: so helpful!
@MaybeBonsai2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Stefano, my thinking may not be always correct but at least it makes it easy for people to guide me lol
@sbragaglia2 жыл бұрын
@@MaybeBonsai I wish I could confirm your thinking is correct, but I can’t because of my limited experience. For sure I find it very constructive and therefore thanks again! 🙂

Looks great. I think It'll look really nice once you get it in a bonsai pot.

Yea I hope so, I am thinking to plant it on an angle so the trunk doesn’t look too straight. We will see…

Great job Xin! For a variegated it’s pretty vigorous growing. You almost got 1k subs and 100 videos at the same time… so close. 🙏🐦💙

Yes the growth isn’t bad, it did fairly well this summer. Thanks Jay, almost 1k haha
@andersnrregren90872 жыл бұрын
The big 100, congrats.(so close to 1k sups) Do you have a normal portalacaria afra non verigated? If so do your have bigger leafs then the variegata? My normal have 3x bigger leaf and growth the my varigata
@MaybeBonsai2 жыл бұрын
I do have a normal non variegated one. I pruned that in ep99. The leaf size is similar. Are you sure yours is a PA and not a regular jade? The other thing I can think of is if you had the tree indoors for awhile so the leaves gets big. But even during the winter the leaves does not get that much bigger. Definitely not 3x the size, maybe 1.3 at most

100 episodes! Daggum, that’s awesome Xin! I’ve watched you 100 times! Is that creepy? I believe you’ve set yourself up for success with this v.PA, brother. My vote is to chop that low branch, btw. But keep it to help thicken the trunk for a bit. Essentially what you did, so…great job! (Hehe)
@MaybeBonsai2 жыл бұрын
Yea I think that low branch eventually will go. I will leave it in for now but it could come off at any second lol

Wow Xin there’s no stopping you once you get the bit between your teeth! O hang on, you did spare the lowest branch ( in my head I’d cut that off half way through!) I think I’m persuaded to buy one tomorrow if there are any left!! Thanx for the inspiration, God bless you 🙏✝️ ✌️🇷🇺☮️🇺🇦✌️
