Congratulations on reaching the 25K milestone. I always enjoy and am inspired by your podcast. Thank you for sharing your life with us. You asked what we are knitting. I'm working on finishing a sweater begun by a friend from my knitting group for her husband. She was dealing with cancer, which very suddenly took her life a few months ago. The sweater pattern is Little Wave by Gudrun Johnston. I hope that having the finished sweater will bring some comfort to her husband this Fall and Winter.

Hi Selma, I’ve been enjoying your KZbin channel for over a year now and love seeing all the knits you get into! When you mentioned sleeves somehow shortening over time, it reminded me of something I think I saw Emma of Woolly Mammoth Yarns had mentioned on her channel - she said that over time, with natural wool, the underarms can felt with friction which causes a shortening in the length. She also talked about the same concept with socks made with non superwash wool; how she knits her socks maybe a couple centimeters longer to accommodate for the shrinkage of the sock due to felting.

Congratulations on your 25K milestone! As an avid quilter, I feel your obsession and late night piecing LOL. I agree with you on the loveliness of Tynn Line. I just finished the Anker Summer Shirt with double strands of it, and what a wonderful fabric it creates. With trepidation, I just started using the magic knot, and so far so good. Fingers crossed! You might find Lift With Cee a helpful YTube channel for weight training. I’m over 70, and love her exercises. Oh my, your new puppy is adorable! Best of luck with your training. Selma, pockets are easy: for each pocket, cut two identical pieces and sew them to the front and back of your skirt. Then, when you sew the side seam, you go straight down to the pocket, around the pocket, and then straight down to the hem. Repeat on the other side.

Congratulations on reaching the 25K milestone and welcoming the lovely Golden Retriever into your family. My current favorite knitting project is the Soirée Scarf featured by Purl Soho (Gaby Bush, designer). I knit the increase half in one color of Linen Quill yarn, and the decrease half in another color. The Magic Knot is so useful. Once I have tied the knot and clipped the ends, I put a small dot of Fray Check fabric sealant on the knot to keep it secure. Fray Check is washable and invisible once it dries. I mention this because some knitters report that the Magic Knot can fail.

You have been busy, indeed! It is amazing how much you have accomplished with all of the extras you have been up to. I find I can get drawn in so many directions that it is hard to accomplish any one of them in a timely manner. Favorite project? Difficult question but I love my “Nancy” cardigan. It was my first attempt at color work and also is a lovely reminder of my trip to Oslo several years back now. I’ve taken to purchasing local yarns from my travels and have my “Austrian” socks, UK socks, etc. It turns into fun three ways: buying the yarn, knitting it up and then remembering the trip when I get to wear them.

One of my favourite knits is the lacy puff pullover by Etsuko Yamaguchi. It fits beautifully and I used a lovely raspberry colored yarn with some sparkle in it that I ordered from the knitting loft. So often there is one or two little things in a project that you aren’t So happy with but this one was fun to knit and it is fun to wear, and I wouldnt change a thing. Also, congrats on entering puppydom. I have a Labrador Retriever that is my absolute best buddy. I have always had dogs- they are work, no doubt, but the smiles they bring and the companionship they provide is beyond measure. Really enjoy your podcasts Selma, thank you for the time and thought you put into them!

Hi Selma, congratulations on reaching 25K subscribers! I so enjoyed watching this episode while I am working on yet another pair of socks. The heat this summer has been intense here in California (as it has been many places) so all I’ve had energy for has been socks. I LOVE making socks. 99% of the socks I knit are given away to friends or pleople I randomly meet in airports, shops I frequent, or just run into in a park or at the beach in some of my travels. To me there is nothing more relaxing and meditative than knitting socks. I always have one pair on the needles with a pattern in them (these usually go to friends) and one pair - usually from commercial sock yarn - made with an overall ribbed-type pattern which are easy to give away to non-knitters and very forgiving size wise. Good luck to you all with your new puppy. While I was high school age we had a golden retriever at home and she was an amazingly wonderful and fun dog. I really can see that golden retrievers also make fabulous support dogs. I’m sure your dog will be an incredible addition to your household. Enjoy! Until next time. Salam wa sa’aadah
