So lovely. My grandfather was from the tribes there, we lost our connection and I personally feel that loss very deeply. I've been wondering if going back to a diet of my ancestors, at least similar, would make me healthier, the current western based diet I have been raised on is clearly not making me healthy.

Have to say being part East-European there is nothing better than that food to me, very rich in raw/fresh ingredients a lot of foraged stuff as well very delicious. Being part Sephardic, although only ethnically, discovering Arabic/Middle Eastern food was a bonding experience because all of these tastes and flavours felt good to us and just made us happy to eat them. So much healthier! Go back to your roots to find your soul food. For folks of North European ancestry: go back to when you were medieval peasants or when you lived in commons (commoners), you ate fresh fish, lots of flavourful seasonal vegetables, artisanal cheeses and ales, tasty and cured meats like venison, rabbit and boar, oats and delicious whole grain darker breads (rye and barely), de-industrialize your diet, re-wild your diet! #foodsovereignty

I came across this book on a recent trip to New Mexico. It's brilliant. Such an insightful take on indigenous food! The permaculture aspect of the author's work is compelling as well. Beautifully illustrated too.

such nice corn cobs!! by living close to some native american communities (mapuche, kichwa, aymara, guarani) I had the chance to appreciate many native crops and recipes (potatoes, chile peppers, pumpkin, manioc, quinoa, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, kañiwa, beans, etc) The cultures of the SW are so interesting... superb architects, superb potters, superb desert farmers... I'd love to visit NM and the 4 corners... and taste some local food

So true native food is healthy and strong. I’m Montagnard jarai tribe when I eat my native rice and wild vegetables and wild meat and I feel healthy and strong also when I was grew up we have no store or modern thing only we survived farming and hunting. Now the Vietnamese moved in to our ancestors land everything changed , the food we eat not really healthy but many people have a cancer.

I've been hunting all over KZbin for tutorials, teaching traditional indigenous recipes, especially from the pueblo Indians. There are absolutely none. Not even from people's personal channels. It would be a godsend if there were programming for this unique niche.

The reason why so many people have issues with their guy health is because of antibiotics. Hence why probiotics are such a big thing. Fermented foods are great tho... I love sauerkraut and pickles etc. But yeah sadly antibiotics, though they are extremely necessary, are harmful to our overall health.

american desert, true enough! Every time someone get antibiotics, they should also be given probiotics to restore their gut biome. How many people are suffering because their gut biome was messed up and no one told them how to heal it? It is so sad.

Mexican food is indigenous food. Its all based on corn and beans. Why? Because like 80%-90% of our maternal ancestors living in Mexico in 1530 was Mesoamerican women.
