This was such an informative episode and I thoroughly enjoyed it ,as Xhosa myself I've learned so much and uMama answered some of the questions I had about ubugqhirha. And for the question, I think our ancestors are more demanding from us because they are aware that we able to appease them and go back to their way of living "sibuyele embo" ,for instance in every new generation post apartheid more and more healers are being born in families to fix amasiko ,the lineage and our ways of living as Africans. ❤
@ZozoZozo-vo8lr28 күн бұрын
The reason why our ancestors are demanding from us, it's because of the pressure the apartheid system put on our grandparents. Our practices were demonized but as the politically free generation our ancestors saw a gap to take up the space and heal our lineages and our communities❤

Wow so informative, I really enjoyed this episode and I love Mama’s aura 🙌🏽👏🏼 My father is a Bhaca and for years my paternal ancestors have been reaching out to me but unfortunately I can’t acknowledge them as my father did not do right by my maternal ancestors so I really enjoyed learning about their ways…….Thank you Chef, please bring Mama back, this episode felt too short 🥹🙌🏽👏🏼
Hello chef phathanani mostly special umamawethu uNonkwenkwezi. The content you deliver today is very educating. I'm truly blessed much was said as a context. Once again uhm super blessed. I would answer the question that was asked. Why most things appear that should be done by us? Remember chef and you mom our grandparents were under colonialism and everything was taken away from them, which made them to neglect lot of things traditionally and culturally. I wanna also put that we're a chosen generation to fix all the damages that were done. These people were suppressed for them to perform many things. Just imagine they had to leave thier homestead to work far for year not coming back home. Who was gonna speak elders? But the privilege that we have for our generation everything is accessible through knowing yourself and working hard to gather your things together.

Once we understand that there is nothing new under the sun, then we will understand why it feels like our ancestors require more attention from us than our parents and grandparents... And remember Phathanani, we are also experiencing "spirit" through freedom.
Very informative and lots of wisdom for the Xhosa nation to have such a learned person, I so wish there can be a person with such knowledge about the bapedi tribe who has knowledge of malopo, your such a good teacher may you be Blessed beyond measures

The reason why our ancestors are demanding from us is because the past generations were influenced so much by colonialism on the fact that we are doing bad and evil things when we practice our traditions and ubungoma/ubugqirha. So they would try by all means necessary to run away from them even join churches just to run away from acknowledging them.

I am answering the why question: It's because silahle indlela zethu futhi as a youth or gen z we are too attached to izinto zabelungu. If our ancestors would let us do that or continue with our own ways that are diverting us from our culture, that means simosha more and more and we are basically adding to amacala abazali bethu. That would add more problems to what has already been done by our parents and it's gonna be a long process to whoever ozolungisa. As mama has said it typically takes 10 years ukuthwasa meaning that our children would take more than that.

True , but trust me the youth is slowly waking up there’s a lot of us who are starting to take this journey back to ourselves

The reason why our ancestors are demanding it's because we have lost our ways and they have seen that as time goes by from this generation to the next things will get worse, our kids may not know who they are as some of them don't even know their Clare names, if they hadn't reacted on our generation, the next one they won't mean anything as everything is being "demonized" As u may notice that our parents have always had sign of intwaso but it wasn't as heavy as it is on us, so that alone is a statement proving the claim I made above that they are putting a stop redirecting us to the correct pathway.

I'd like to answer the question on 52:00 where you ask us about WHY? WHY US? If you read in the Bible of... Exodus 34:7“[God] keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet he will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.” We are the 3rd & 4th generation that is punished for our great grandparents who lost amasiko now our customs zase mandulo zivuka kuthi hence why ubona sitwasa in large numbers. It's the time where sisiya eMbo. Our problem is when Abantu abadala call you and you don't answer, they will punish you just like how parents do to their children when they ignore their call because you dont know why you're being called. Injalo nje
