Welcome! In this episode I troubleshoot an issue where the windshield wiper pump was no longer working on my 2010 Ford Fusion named Jadzia. Ultimately turned out to be a bad pump, so I then show how to access the pump, drain the wiper tank and do the replacement.

You are most welcome. Pretty random part to go out but not a bad repair.

Sure. It's pretty annoying when you can't clean your windshield after a big 'ole juicy bug smacks into it so this was a must to fix.

Thanks for the video. I need to replace just the hose, but wasn't sure the location of the pump or how to get to it 👍

Glad I could help. I kind of knew the location from when I rebuilt the front end of the Fusion, but one day it just... died. Wipers are safety for me so it had to be fixed.

I had to do this as well. As you mentioned, the key is to insert the gasket first, then push in the pump. I tried pushing the whole thing in all together and it did not work.

Good video. Just what I needed. Bevwatching more. Just started getting some trans slippage at about 115k. Gonna do the filter but my mechanic friend said reuse the fluid. I'm gonna change half. What do you think?

The 6F35 does not have a user serviceable transmission filter. It does have one, internal to the transmission that is more of a screen than a filter. If you are starting to see slippage, best advice I can give is to put in fresh fluid via a drain and fill and if it's still slipping try adding a thickening agent and see what that earns you.

Never use old fluid that's just dumb. Replace it. And if you can filter. Put some Lucas transmission stuff in there as well. My 2010 Ford fusion sel is serviceable it has a dipstick and all yours may as well too. Check into it.

i read somewhere that if you run the pump too much without fluid it will burn out the pump
@MazdaB3K
@MazdaB3K Жыл бұрын
That sounds right. Many kinds of pumps are cooled by the fluids they pump so if you run them dry they burn out fairly quickly. in tank fuel pumps are another really good example.

The part is $25. Where’s the logic in having to do this all again when it goes bad in a week? Plain silly.

The logic is that I have a pretty good track record with junkyard parts. To each their own. The repair procedure is still good yes?

@@MazdaB3K don’t remember saying anything about the procedure. The only people that use junkyard parts (electrical) are either car flippers trying to make the most buck or your broke at the moment but if that was the case being able to use your wipers isn’t really top priority not to me anyways. Cool video man but I still will NEVER recommend using (electrical) junkyard parts!

Junkyard stuff can definitely be dodgy.. I seem to remember I pulled that particular pump from a low miles fusion in the yard so I was willing to roll the dice. By and large if I can source the part new I will. My question in my previous comment was asking if you felt if the repair procedure was valid. That's all.

@@MazdaB3K most definitely! Loved how you explained everything with fine detail and gave everyone options on how to drain the reservoir and even explained how gravity draining works. Still, new is best!(in most cases)
