Loved the "one of the classic blunders" line. Awesome throwaway for PB fans. ;-)

47:00 Analog computers with plug boards are alive and well, today we call them "modular synthesizers", e.g. Eurorack.

I would like to recommend an interesting project: "Could It Have Been Done?" This would focus on the technology that was presented in past fiction. For instance, I have been watching that old 70s cartoon called Clue Club, which includes a computer and radio equipment. The former can answer queries and run searches. You could combine your knowledge of history and technology, similar to what Michio Kaku did in Physics of the Impossible. Throughout fiction there have been gadgets, so could they have been done with extant technology then, and how? Were they, sort of? If not, what was the earliest possible point that suitable tech was available? You could really drum up followers with a show like that. Anyway, think about it.😉

I only want to say that Rx library and lastest new kid on the block Signals are clearly reimplementation of plugboards in sofrtware. Also whole declarative programing movement is step in this way. And i don't even get me started on functional programing... in pure form is plug board all way down 😅

With plugboards and specially DEPI, it seems like you are describing a primitive version of Matlab Simulink or LabView. This is a quite common programming paradigm for engineers.

19:55 - Wouldn't these twp parallel operations require twice as much 'program' space?

9:27 - "...even one that runs sums..." Do you mean 'sums' as in the British definition (+, -, x, /) or sums using Sigma?

10:52 I must object, asynchronus digital machines were live and well in '70 and form of CPU form TTL chips were normal product. Also althougut clocks conquered almost whole teritory, there were attempts to data flow architectures and today out of order and speculative cpus are bold step in this direction to

Well, we get it, Sean, you don't like Fortran. There is no need to call it garbage in every episode. It sounds like a personal problem.
