Brother Reid, I'm delighted that you presented this topic. You made mention of it in another video and I was yearning for more. So I started to study some aspects of this topic on my own. Do you think Daniel 4:16, gives us a glimpse of the behavior of a worm in hell? As you well know, King Nebuchadnezzar was reduced to a beast by God. I was contemplating whether or not his beastly behavior, during that time , could be liken to a lost soul in hell. Daniel 4:16“Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.” Thank you for a thoughtful and thorough examination of this topic, Brother Reid.

We see in Matt 16:25 and in Mark 8:35 it's speaking of our "soul life", because they (soul and life) are one and the same. Our spirit (G4151) pneuma, has a life (G2222) zoe. Our soul (G5590) psuche, has a life (G5590) psuche. Our body (G4983) soma, has a life (G979) bios. Thank you, once again, for a great teaching.

This is a profoundly fascinating study I’ll dig into many times. I think it was a Dr James Tour of Rice University who said years ago he believed the Spirit is an ad-hoc operating system which returns to God. In 2019 my daughter and her husband were on her last 2 eggs, been going through IVF in vitro fertilization for almost 2 years and no success until the last egg got the SPARK OF LIFE. Few people know that when a successful fertilization occurs there is a clear blue white spark. All these are videotaped and of course my granddaughters was as well. It’s factually known by ‘all’ IVF operations. The spark is a confirmation of success. My granddaughter was born with half a heart, she will go through years of surgeries; she’s a blessing to my kids and our family. Father’s mysteries are just that!

For me, since our soul is the seat of will and emotions, and the spirit is what makes us live, it is more accurate to equate Soul with software and spirit with product. What's your take?

Also, now that there are grace teachers ,teaching the JWs heresy of soul sleep, this is a timely lesson. Will you do a message one day for those struggling with sin, same sex attraction , and how to overcome this perpetuating struggle. No matter how hard one in this struggle tries, it feels almost impossible to overcome. Does this mean a believer can be possessed by an evil spirit ? It is such a burden, it is overwhelming. We do not believe that a believer can be possessed by an evil spirit today because every believer is indwelt by the Holy Spirit from the moment of salvation.

What part of the rich man was the he? It wasn’t his body because his body was in the ground It wasn’t his spirit bcus his spirit went back to God It was his soul! ( Thank You Pastor Reid) I always knew we were comprised of 3 parts … spirit , soul and body but I absolutely was able to see the separation for the first time when you gave the breakdown ! I think the verses back up David's teaching. What part of us sins? If our soul sins, the wages of sins are death. If our soul or the real me is just, verse 9 says I shall surely live.

Paul uses the word "saved" in regards to someone's spirit to be saved IN THE DAY OF THE LORD as though a spirit could be saved or not saved. 1 cor 5:5. So the Lord saved his spirit, I guess his spirit could've gotten lost if God wanted to as well. The verse doesn't say "so that his soul gets saved or rewards" But it says spirit. How do you explain that biblically?

1Cor 5:5 is not talking about the spirit being saved from hell but being saved from condemnation at the judgment seat of Christ. The context is a believer living a sinful lifestyle.

We are not aware of any verse in the scriptures to suggest that an animal has a soul. An animal does have the spirit of a beast.

Although Father does not mention this in the Bible I’ve always thought the eyes are a window into the soul, my best friend of 10 years, a South African mastiff seems to have something that might be a soul, but that simply my thoughts on this; we will find out some day;-). I’ve watched some lectures on the brain/mind and today’s science doesn’t even believe thoughts originate in the mass of synapses 🧠, that they come from outside this mass which only seems to serve as a database.

Scripture doesn't say that the eye REFLECTS the heart but that it AFFECTS the heart (Lam 3:51). What reveals the heart is the mouth (Matt 12:34, Luke 6:45).

After watching the whole video I have two questions. 1) if all people's spirit return to God and it's actually the soul who either gets saved and goes to heaven or gets lost and goes to hell right after death, why does Paul say in 1 Corinthians 3:5 that he delivered that man's flesh to be destroyed by Satan (for the sin he committed) that his SPIRIT may be saved in the day of the Lord. It doesn't mention soul but spirit in relation to salvation. That verse is quite often used as a proof of eternal security but if it's the soul that gets saved and the spirit is just a mere breath of life that always returns to God, then that verse would debunk eternal security. 2) you said Jesus took our eternal punishment upon himself on the cross. If he paid in full and was our substitute on the cross, wouldn't that mean that our eternal punishment should be hanging nailed to a cross forever? Why wouldn't Jesus go to hell and be burned or tormented or whatever people suffer there to really take our punishment if those who die in their sins not washed by faith in the gospel will go to hell not to a cross?

1. We think you mean 1Cor 5:5, and that verse is not about salvation from hell but salvation from loss at the judgment seat of Christ. 2. The Lord can make an eternal payment for sin in a finite amount of time. We couldn't do that, but he can.

I will never Understand why otherwise sound Bible teachers will decide to wade into the subject of the disposition of animals eternally.the Bible seems to be very unclear about it. Especially going to the book of Ecclesiastes for doctrine seems a little bit weak to me. Genesis 2: 7. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. After God breathed into man the breath of life; Man = Body + breath of life = living soul Thus, Man = living soul = body + spirit Leviticus 17: 10. And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. Man is a soul. Therefore, the correct equation: body + spirit = soul Thus, IMHO, the teaching that man is made up of 3 parts is inaccurate. I am familiar with the illustration of man in 3 circles. The inner circle represents the spirit, the second represents the soul and the outer one the body. I believe this illustration is inaccurate. My conclusion is: A man is a soul and it’s made up of body and spirit. Upon creation, Living soul= body + breath of God Upon the fall Dead soul = corruptible body + dead spirit Upon salvation Saved soul = regenerated spirit + corruptible body At the rapture: Regenerated spirit + glorified body Would appreciate your view in the conclusion I have made.
