Episode 15: Lots of Socks!

What am I wearing? I am wearing my Mountain Song Sweater that I test knit for Megan over at @knitcurious on Instagram. I knit this sweater using Knitpicks Wool of the Andes Sport weight, which is non-superwash wool. This sweater is very itchy. If you have any advice to soften it up, I would greatly appreciate the advice.

Finished Objects
My next pair of Halloweeen socks I started with a 20 stitch toe to a 56 stitch foot. I did 50 rows of plain knitting for the foot before the gusset increases. I did a 5 stitch leg and a 15 row cuff. The yarn that I am using is Bad Wolf Girl Studios in the “On the Other Side” colorway, which was her Halloween colorway from 2020.

My mom’s birthday socks I knit these for a friend of my mom’s. She got sock tubes cranked and wanted me to add toes, heels, and cuffs. The sock tube was a little big so I decided to knit from it like a sock blank. I did 56 stitches on a US size 2, with a heel flap and gusset.
Witching Hour Socks This yarn is Witching Hour by Kaitlin of @mintrainyarn and a mini from stash. I knit these on a US size 1. I started with Judy Becker's Magic Cast On of 20 stitches and increased to 56 stitches. I knit 50 rows of a foot before I started the gusset increases. I used a slip stitch heel flap.

My Musselburgh Hat I knit the adult Medium size on US size 2 needles. I knit to 14 inches and I used my Undercover Otter yarn in the Viren Colorway. I didn't want it to be very slouchy.

Works In Progress
Holly’s Socks I am using the rest of the yarn from the cranked sock tube to knit a pair of socks for my mom’s best friend Holly. I am knitting them on a US size 2 and 56 stitches. I did a Fish Lips Kiss heel with a mini from stash.
Reese’s Harvest Cardigan I am knitting the Tin Can Knits Harvest Cardigan for my niece for Christmas. I am knitting the size 2-4T size. I am using stash yarn that I think is some kind of Red Heart. I am using US size 4 and 6 knitting needles. I am planning on steaming the sweater and hoping to get a good drape.

Christmas Washcloths I am knitting washcloths for several people for Christmas so I decided to knit 2 washcloths a week. I have kept up with it and I have 8 out of the 20 that I need to have done. I am using PJ Allen’s Grandma’s Favorite dishcloth pattern. I have the 9th one halfway finished.
Acquisitions and Future Knits-
-Knitpick’s Stroll tweed in the North Sea Heather colorway. I am going to be using this to knit a Musselburgh for my Uncle for Christmas.
-I bought some Knitpicks Stroll Handpainted in the Movie Night colorway to knit my brother in law socks for Christmas.
-Knitpicks Felici in the Base Jump colorway for another pair of socks for Richard.
-Yarnbee Authentic in Techno Tribe for a Musselburgh hat for Olivia for her birthday.
-Yarnbee Soft and Sleek DK in Cloud Control. I am knitting the Morchella Cardigan which is close to a sweater that Aunt Hilda on The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina wore.

Books Recs
-A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn. This is a good book. I really like the main character Veronica and her sidekick of sorts, Stoker. I would recommend this book.
-Shatter Me by Taherah Mafi I am looking forward to seeing where this series goes. I like the main character and I like that the author writes novellas from other characters POV.

I love the sweater your wearing! I use something called Beyond Soft by Unicorn Baby. It's anti itch and anti static. I use it on my handspun more rustic yarns. Awesome socks. I'm super slow with my socks. As you saw my Halloween socks turned into mitts. Can't wait to see that Cardigan knit up. Looking forward to your opening your minis on Instagram.

Make sure you swatch that soft and sleek dk, it pretends to be a fingering weight yarn!

Yeah i knit another sweater out of it. Honestly my gauge is so loose, it may work in my favor lol
