Ted is unfailingly humble and gracious in every interview I've seen. It would have been easy for him to become an egotistical blowhard given his widespread fame, but he obviously recognizes the deep spiritual impact he made on millions of lives. And it's not just in interviews--a friend of mine was a stagehand for numerous stage productions, and he said after every show Ted took time to acknowledge each adoring fan personally. Imagine the burden of having strangers wanting a piece of you for half a century, and humbly receiving them night after night. He truly embodies the spirit of the character he portrays, which is why his portrayal remains so powerful and relevant all these years later.

Gethsemene is such a powerful song. Can't help but cry every single time I hear it because of Ted's performance.

Mr. Neeley has my utmost respect for the intense emotion he brought to his role as Our Lord. Goosebumps and tears always get the best of me when I listen to him sing. Many actors have played the role of Jesus, but I think only Mr. Neeley really conveyed what Jesus experienced. Much love to him and thanks.

I met Ted Neeley at the Auditorium Theater in Rochester NY. It was in 1994 and it was shortly after I lost my last child. Ted is the sweetest man I have ever met.

LOVE this!!! Congrats! I not only grew up listening to the musical JC Superstar, I adored Ted Neeley in the movie! I literally knew every word of that musical..and when the movie came out...I couldn't get to the theatre fast enough!! The movie was aMaZing and Ted Neeley embodied Jesus 100%! Later in my career, Tom & I singing JC songs in performances is a true joy. Ted Neeley is BRILLIANT and so refreshing to see him here in this interview...so VERY down to earth. A REAL pro and a genuine heart. BTW..Scott... I'm just a little jealous that you had this opportunity to chat with him :-D...a dream of mine..(actually I'm WAY MORE proud of you as your good friend than jealous..lol.) Anyway...I just LOVED this!! Bravo to both of you!

Scott, you were the absolute perfect person to conduct this interview since you were imprinted with JCS from the crib! I loved the passionate exchange between you & Ted - very heartwarming. I was a teen when I saw this in the theater in 1973 and was just thunderstruck with awe - and of course, fell in love with Ted! I got to meet him in Dallas during the 20th anniversary tour in 1994 - the first touring production with him & Carl after the movie. One of the highlights of my life. So blessed to have lived during that time to experience it "real-time". Tomorrow (Good Friday) I'll watch the movie, followed by the documentary this weekend. Thank you for posting this uplifting interview! Georgia in TX

Thank you, Tim. That was for the podcast I did, endorsed by the band called Uriah Heep - The Magician’s Podcast. 398 episodes covering every song the band ever recorded plus Live ‘73. I also interviewed all the current and some past members.

What a great interview, my friend! LOVED it, and can't wait for the next time Ted is on your show!! Such a genuine soul; still inspiring, after all these years. :D Cracked up that you were one, when it originally aired. I was ten, but still remember the influences it had on the world, and clearly, remains to have on people's lives. Amazing!! It makes me smile. Love from M and me... XO
