How so?
@Kindkaly23Ай бұрын
@@ClearGalaxies Because you’re locating the utility “box” thingy underground so constructors don’t mess up power lines, etc when they begin to dig. A lot of utility locators are independent contractors via their company that gets outsourced to help other companies most of the time, so you’re doing the job before the big guys come to do theirs. It gives you the opportunity to meet the right people cause you’re in the right places. And if you’re good enough they’ll probably request you specifically. This is how I understand it. But I’ve been told this type of work can open many other doors too

Interesting. I have an interview with USIC on Monday. Reading reviews of the company online, they don't sound that great to work for. Watching this video, I see why, and it's because they're a big company focused on production locates. Maybe things are different in my area, and we'll see. I need a job that's decent.

All USIC did was take good paying line spotter and locate jobs away from utility companies. The amount of times USIC has mismarked or just straight up not marked a utility line in my line of work is insane. We would save more money having in-house locators. AVOID this company at all cost. I have also worked for them right after I graduated high school... Just go to trade school or try to get on with a utility as a meter reader or something.

Unfortunately Quality of work in contract locating is like oil and water they don’t mix..At the end of the day the company only makes money off of tickets status not the time and effort that may be needed to locate the site accurately.

Would you recommend it for a 22 year old with no kids. I've been working with my hands for 10 to 12 an hour since I was 15. I need to make more money though.
@geckoafterlife2 жыл бұрын
@@aaronsprojects9622 definitely, USIC is a pretty good company. I work for ELM Utility here in the Puget Sound in Washington state for PSE. If you can work without supervision, aren't afraid of heavy traffic, extensive projects this job is for you. Also if you're detail oriented you'll go up the ranks easily. Quality of quantity is what makes the money in the utility industry. Also, most locating companies have on-call rotations where you must be ready to work any time. if you dont mind getting called to an emergency at 3am in the morning then yeah totally go for it. Locating companies are always hiring!
