Your Zinnias are looking great! Love the details on the sleeves of your adorable top. How sweet of one of your listeners/viewers to send you the jeep project bag. So perfect for you. Love the tie dye Momma Jess yarn & the socks are knitting up beautifully. I did cast on pair one for SSC2023. My goal is 3 pair, one per month, which is a lot for me as my hands don't work as well as they used to. LOVE this year's Logo!! Rec'd my awesome SSC shirt & a couple stickers. I put one on my stainless steel drink cup next to last years. Thanks for another fun episode.

For you root rot plant: I recommend removing ALL the soil and bad roots, wash the roots w gentle soap, put in glass jar w only enough water to cover 2/3 to 3/4 of the lower roots. Can use very, very diluted liquid fertilizer, preferably one suited to hydroponic plants

Welllll, I was up VERY early this morning ripping back a pair of socks to the cuff that I goofed on yesterday and just couldn't fix to my satisfaction. Easier to begin again with the pattern....sigh. Anyway, I don't even want to confess how many bags of sock projects I have ready for sock camp-all I'll say is you'll finish yours before I finish mine, I'm sure! Look at your garden---oh my goodness! I was very excited to see Sweet William seeds sprout this year from ones I sprinkled 2 years ago I think. The flowers are biannual so once they come up, they do the work every year. All I have to do is replant where I want them. They're my favorite flower . I got some annual flower plants the other day thinking I had plenty for the flower garden.....NOPE! We need to go back...my husband will be over the moon thrilled...not. Then the vegetable gardens need started. I've got a LOT of weeding to do in one of them before that....hopefully this weekend....then I can relax and knit socks!!!

As a commercial bell pepper grower with a house full of plants and yarn, I get the obsession. With the fig, they hate change, so moving from where you had it to bright light will certainly cause a tantrum. If its root rot open up the pot and remove any roots that aren't whitish and replace it in well draining soil. Don't forget fertilizer, though give it a few weeks after repotting before you start.

Fiddle leaf…. 🤦‍♀️. I have read of so many people chopping them back and “chucking” them outside to have a good hard think about themselves. They’re notorious. You are not alone 😊 That solo seedling in your flower garden…. I reckon it’s a stray grass. Happy to be proven wrong, but that’s what I think (monocot v’s dicot - single seed leaf v’s two seed leaves) Great video 💛
@CrazySockLady

Haha! They seem very finicky for sure! Hmm, that would be odd as I did plant a flower right there and this is a raised bed with tarp under for no grass to get through. But maybe! It’s for sure looking like something else other than grass though!

Hello! Regarding your fiddle leaf fig, they are well-known divas in the plant world. They can be quite finicky. One thing that is sure to set them off is change. They don’t like it. They are not happy when their watering schedules are changed, when their placement in the home is changed, when the temperature changes, when the humidity changes, and on and on. I recommend making changes slowly and with plenty of time in between. For example, if you’ve recently moved the plant, that could explain why the leaves fell off, but before you attempt repotting it, I would let it sit in its new spot for a couple of weeks. Once it adjusts, it may come around a little bit. If not, you can try a second change. Maybe that’s when you repot, but be sure to put it back in the spot it had been prior to re-potting. More than one change at a time will likely drive it completely mad. And when you do repot, check the roots carefully for signs of root rot. Also, don’t upsize the pot very much, especially if the current roots aren’t completely taking up space in the current pot. Putting a plant in a pot where there is too much extra soil is a recipe for root rot for sure. Good luck!
@CrazySockLady
@CrazySockLady Жыл бұрын
Thank you Shelley!!! I will let it be for a bit and keep an eye on it. I didn’t realize how finicky they were. 🙃 I saw the leaves drop after I moved it and was like ummm what is happening. 😂 what the heck have I gotten myself into. I 100% think it will be worth it if I can get it back on track though. I bought the stuff to repot it when some fresh soil, drainage rocks, etc. but I’ll take your advice and hold off! I’m hoping it’s new spot has enough light. 🤞🏻

Hi Kay. Love the temperature blanket ad seeing your wips. It is great you are doing so well with your gardening. I love that all you want to do is knit socks all summer long. It is autumn here for us and I have finished crocheting a new beanie and started a crochet Catherine Wheel stitch lap blanket and loving it. I visited a boutique shop here in Perth, Western Australia called Crossways and they had so many hand dyed merino nylon base finger weight yarns that I brought quite a few. I had my husband holding the skeins while i was having fun drooling over the different colours. We don't have very many yarn stalls with hand dyed yarns and this store is about a 45 minute drive away so after babysitting my grandson and getting my husband from work I was lucky it was still open. The lovely lady there called Teagan caked all the skeins up for me which was so nice of her. I hope you can save your plant Kay. Take care and enjoy the sun and knitting those gorgeous socks.

You may consider looking into the Master Gardener program from your state land grant university - the agricultural school- it’s a great program, went through it in Iowa, learned it doesn’t make you the Master of anything, but does give you a round of basics of plants and trees, and does give you access to university resources- which, btw, you can most likely call your local office for your tree, I think it needs repotting and more sun, but call them, sometimes they are in with 4 H offices, I am no longer in the program, having volunteered for 500 hours over 10 years. I did the Hort Line, basically I’d be the one you called in my area, and the advantage to that is I continued learning all sorts of things. They give a great program, asking for pretty minimal hours of volunteer work. Probably starts this fall. FWIW.

Plant mama/grandma here. I am not only learning (after a move ) what my plants like, but I am grandma to many plants that my son is keeping here. His new place doesn't have enough light. So....one thing I am learning is that the 'more light/less light' can also depend on the season and where the sun is in relation to your windows. Up here, we get sun from 6 am til 9:30 pm. Summer solstice is coming and for a time, it won't be truly dark until about 10:30. So...I have had to move plants that were quite happy in their windows in winter, and now need less light. Not sure if your 'drama queen' fig might have those issues, but it's a thought. Outdoor plants are lovely. I no longer can have anything more than one potted plant outside the communal front door. BUT petunias take a lot of heat, love sun and if you deadhead them they bloom forever. Happy gardening.

I so enjoyed hearing you talk about how your plants need you and comparing them to not having teenage attitude! Hilarious! I do love gardening and through the years Mom shared her love for succulents with me. Every year she shared so generously with everyone she came into contact with giving a cutting or a potted plant, you name it. So, I do love sharing and talking about plants. Spread the love! And as for your question about how long do we think it will take for you to knit up the socks....I'm going to say possibly the whole time of SSC2023. Only because you do love to start up new projects! And I love it when you start up a new sweater or gifts for others. You can't help yourself. Hahaha It's going to be a great summer for sock knitting, etc! StitchedbyMimi

So excited that WiPS are allowed this year! You have me wanting to cake up all the sock yarn. I’ve owned fiddle leaf figs in three states. Here is what I’ve learned - they prefer north facing windows, do not put them near heat/ac registers, they like FLF fertilizer, (Amazon), I also put a teaspoon of general liquid fertilizer in their water every other week. (Moon Juice) I give my larger figs 6 cups of water once a week, in winter 4 cups, finally I sweet talk them. I hope you can save yours!

I started that memory blanket a couple of years ago. It's getting so big I needed a bag for it. That made me realize, hey, I know how to sew and I have lots of fabric and zippers. So off I went to my sewing room and made one. That made me realize I have way to many WIP's in unused makeup bags. So now I will sew for a while. The other thing I realized is that 9 Inch circs are not for me. I will stick with my trusty dp's. I'm going to buy another of your patterns and yes, I will make socks. Happy knitting...❤

Very successful logo. Beautiful! Better yet, every item you showed had a different color background and the logo was still vibrant and clearly recognizable. Congrats! Sending lots of love from Waupun, WI.

I am loving your temperature blanket. I've never considered making one, but yours has got me thinking about it! I think how unplanned your color selection was is why it is speaking to me versus other versions I've seen. Each time you show it is more beautiful than the previous time.

Me too. The randomness of colors makes it so amazing. In our neck of the woods we can have all seasons in one day. I know you experience that too Kay We aren’t too far away geographically. You never know what the day will bring! I’m making one next year for sure.
