Elder TikTok: Bridging Faith and Culture on Social Media
This episode of Culturally Rooted features Elder TikTok, an innovative figure who intertwines his LDS faith with social media presence, to enhance missionary work. With a history of serving two missions, he shares his experiences of leveraging TikTok for spreading gospel messages, navigating scrutiny, and engaging deeply with followers on matters of faith, cultural identity, and the intricacies of missionary work. Elder TikTok discusses the potential for social media in missionary efforts, suggests modifications to missionary handbook rules to include platforms like TikTok, and addresses the importance of balancing cultural traditions with religious beliefs. The dialogue covers controversial topics such as mission duration, breaks, and location choices, highlighting the need for flexibility and adaptation within the LDS Church's framework.
