Alhumdulliah, my father was always punctual and went to masjid early for all 5 prayers. When the masjid's imam announced his death news, he said that he was from the people of the first row. He passed away last year, please pray for him that may Allah forgive him and grant him Jaanah, and bless his wife and daughters. JazakAllah.

Speaking of the uncles and aunties--and I know the front row in the hadith isn't referring so much to the physical front row--aren't we supposed to leave space for our elders in the front rows? I understand that having chairs in that spot might be a little hard to arrange, but regardless of the blessings it also just seems like the due respect they deserve. Especially since some might be hard of hearing.

I remember my father get angry at us when we came to masjid late.. He literally comes 1hr earlier especially on Eidl Adha and Eidl Fitr. He always wants to be first to come and says angels are always prays with us if we do so.. Until we don't live with him anymore.

@@alittleatinyatiny1821 Agreed. When we're little, we resent him for this. The day before the Eidl, there are lot of things he obliged us to do. We prepared everything a day before and so we can barely sleep well and we'd like to sleep a little more. But he gets mad if we don't wake up early because he wanted the first spot. 😂 I appreciated him for this as I get older. 😊😊 And hopefully will do the same once I have children of my own. 😇

Beautiful reminders. I do have one thought: the so called "masjid aunties" are a large part of why going to the masjid is difficult for me. It's hard to deal with how some (by no means all or even most) aunties have talked down to me, pushed me out of my rightful space, screamed at mothers and their children, often undeservedly. I have shed many tears as a direct result of the actions taken by these people and I was not brave enough to return to the masjid for many, many years. While I never want to denigrate them or make them into simply a meme or joke, I want change for my daughter. I never want her to experience the very painful experiences that took away my love for the masjid. I don't blame them, I'm responsible for my own actions but they did contribute to the feelings and pain.

Very true. The same thing happened with me & also fell in multiple times into unnecessary arguments which made me kind of not want to go back to masid during ramadan for taraweeh, but then yeah despite of all that happening i did push myself to go couple of times & let’s not even forget about the way they judge you & make you feel bad incase if you did something wrong by mistake or you didn’t know.

@@samrah3875 this is not the problem of one masjid, unfortunately. I have experienced this myself or witnessed this in multiple masjids in my community. Unfortunately, in many ways, this is a systemic problem. I am now working to change this as much as I can.
