Hey :) It's nice to see Americans enjoying swiss work. About the amount of "coverage": As a Swiss student from the French-speaking part. I can tell you, we learn German and most of us read this play in German during High School. So perhaps they read it in middle school in the German part, I wouldn't know.

I really enjoy reading Swiss literature, as I personally have had a long fascination with Swiss culture. I have found that the Swiss writers and works that I have enjoyed were very thought-provoking and insightful. It is interesting how you are taught this play in German (its original language) as a French student, for I have learned that Switzerland is a country of four languages. Do you generally dip into each language when reading a given work (German, French, Italian, or Romansch)? I came across this play because I was interested in Friedrich Durrenmatt and thought this would be a great place to start. We have discussed two poems from the French speaking part of Switzerland on our channel: "The Great Fetishes" by Blaise Cendrars and "The Glass Grapes" by Corinna Bille. Thank you for watching! -Josh
