For a preacher's daughter whose mother never missed a show, Chonda Courtney Pierce could never have imagined when she first started performing for family and friends as a little girl where the roads of life would take her. As a best-selling comedian making records and making people laugh she often hid the pain of overwhelming losses.
Episode 25 of Michael in the Middle is a special hour of laughs mixed with real talk about the duality of joy and sorrow, yet Chonda's enduring faith offers a testimony of great hope!

I too was raised in a parsonage and went to a church affiliated Bible college. Married a girl who also was raised in a parsonage. I began to have seizures before we married, and she married me anyway and cared for me. After about 20 years, she began to have health issues, so I began to care for her. She passed away two months ago, and I miss her terribly. We were married just short of 50 years, and it hurts so much. Thank you for sharing the pain in your life. It helps to know that the God we both learned about in Sunday School, still loves us and will work all things together for our good and His glory.

Shining light in dark places is the reason I went into teaching, specifically public school. I always tried to witness in terms of behavior and relationship building, showing God's love and His influence in my life.

Needed to watch this tonight. I was starting to believe the lies Satan was planting in my mind tonight. I am beyond blessed in my life despite all the circumstances I've been through and I know it but Satan is masterful at taking advantage of weak moments we may be experiencing. I'm excited to be able to see Chonda next month in Gresham, OR with my 2 daughters and 2 sisters.

I know, everybody has a critique, BUT: schizophrenia is not multiple personality disorder. The brain’s sensory center is misfiring and creates hallucinations. These manifest mainly as “voices”, or auditory hallucinations, but can also be visual, touch (I.e. bugs under the skin), taste, or smell. Still, that aside, this is wonderful, and I love how Chonda uses humor to deal with life’s difficulties.
