I live in Virginia and I never knew how beautiful that part of the state was. Regarding distance, I always wanted to do longer days, but "All day" did not. When he went home in early November I picked up the pace. Unfortunately I have lost my "trail legs" being at home and I will start from scratch when I get back on trail.

John and I met those two ladies while we were staying at Open Arms hostel in Luray! They were hiking fairly short sections but sounded determined they were finishing the trail.

I was really impressed. We hiked around each other for several weeks. They had a shuttle guy and they were slack packing from hostel to hostel even through the cold and snow. They finished up at Partnership shelter a couple of weeks ago. They were on trail for nearly 10 months.
