thank you for all the excellent ‘noise’. May we keep up the momentum until a proper legal review is instigated.

A point that keeps being made is that Letby was present when these selected babies died. This does not take into account that the collapses may have started before Letby came on duty. For example, a baby starts to collapse at 7pm and dies at 9pm. Letby comes on duty at 8pm. Therefore she murdered the baby. Not.

So Hughes’s detective skills didn’t manage to stretch to knowing that the unit was downgraded. He did claim he didn’t know anything medical so presumably he didn’t understand the difference between a level 1 or level 2 unit. Any reasonable defence would have ripped him to pieces in a trial

ditto ... I was under the apprehension that's what detectives did ... investigated ! Also, didn't they bother checking the credentials of Dewi Evans. He wasn't a neonatologist, had no forensics experience and last practiced in 2007 ! Why did they use somebody who didn't qualify as an 'expert' witness ?

You need to quantify 5 times the rate of single babies at 32 - 33 weeks gestation babies. My issue is the care was so bad, so very awful, the planning of care was missing and poorly implemented by consultants. It was not that these babies or triplets had a higher risk because of the gestational intrauterine circumstances, it was because they were cared for in a poorly functioning, germ ridden, dreadful unit, with young staff, inexperienced staff, no neonatologist, and poor medical consultant input.

It doesn't matter how many appeals Lucy makes, this case will not go away until the FULL truth comes out in public. Yes I do feel sympathy for the parents of the victims, but this is no price to pay to justify incarcerating a potentially innocent victim of flawed justice for the rest of her life..

@@joshb7326 The reality is that much of the supposed expert evidence presented at the trial was bullshit (especially from Evans), while ignoring the contemporary medical evidence that is there for all to find in the autopsies and hospital notes, pointing to an outbreak of sepsis cases and substandard medical care from the junior out-of-their-depth doctors who were left largely unsupervised by the consultants (Jayaram was even working on his TV career when this was happening). I suspect the ultimate outcome of the case is that the hospital (literally awash in shit) and medical staff are sued for medical negligence once it is realised that Letby was after all an unfortunate scapegoat. If you have ever worked in healthcare as I and members of my family have you will have seen this sort of scapegoating behaviour for yourself.

If Evans was an expert in this field, one might imagine he knew about the exceedingly high risk of single placenta multiple births. Also, was it in the notes, as noted by those who assisted in the birth process.

He was a paediatrician ( yonks ago), not a neonatologist. They showed him a picture of a Philips baby monitor in court, and he said he never saw one because they never had them in Swansea, where he worked. He also said babies were simple little things. There is not much that they go wrong with them. He rarely treated preterm neonates!

In the Operation Hummingbird video, DS Paul Hughes brings up the statical reasoning often. The part he left out was about Professor Hutton and their inquiry with her. We now know that actually occurred. They question remains is whether the police and/or prosecution knew or should have known LL defense may have been entitled to such evidence. This causes another crack in the investigation, arrest, prosecution and conviction of the former British Nurse Lucy Letby. When John Sweeney is finished with this case. They will call the CoCH, The Lucy Letby Hospital of Chester!

Fair enough police may not have done things willingly...and were convinced they were doing the right thing...but how can the fact they got rid of the expert telling them they could not link the deaths directly on the nurse, on whom they already had their eyes, because XYZ...including that her leaving and the reduction in deaths may have been not because of her absence but because they stopped the types of babies they accepted until then? Even if you do not know about correlation, causation, stats etc, this is a pretty basic idea to comprehend...so I am genuinely asking: what was the rationale behind this?..how did they justify discarding the expert/explanation and withholding the info? why?... and what consequences could this have for the cops? deliberately ignoring evidence is a crime, right? negligently ignoring evidence also has legal consequences, right? (I would guess that this is independently of the outcome of the case...surely in some countries).. hHow do we avoid this happening again? How many of those watching these videos can afford paying a private legal team and the experts and all the rest if the system goes against us?....scary...unfair...we should consider a system similar to healthcare, and a system that allows citizens the amount of money to use in their desense equal to the amount they put in their accusation...with experts being hired by courts, not the sides, and having tribunals -professional judges, magistrates, more than 1...like a jury, but experts in law, which actually is the system in many countries.
