EPISODE: 3 Float Stocking Pickering Creek

On 2/21/2023 we help our local WCO by float stocking the very lower part of the delayed harvest of Pickering Creek in Chester County. Lots of fish went in this day between Pickering Creek and French Creek Fly area. 282 and Valley creek were not stocked.

Man…. Wish I lived close enough to make a trip to that creek. .. That’s some nice fish. Should be catch and release or limited keep. Very cool fishing place.

Delayed harvest regulations is catch and release for most of the year. They do hold in there but once the harvest kicks in, it is hit hard.

did the float have a hole?

Yes, it had a small crack. About 20 small trout escaped as we were walking down through. We had to replace the whole bottom of the float

You should make your floats out of 55gal plastic drums, alot lighter and last a lifetime

We actually make this way on purpose. Those 55 gal drum floats hold a 3rd of what these do. But I agree, they benefit areas that are smaller. We have a lot of trees down in the water that we then sink the float under. Also provides oxygen to the fish as we sometimes float stock 2-3 miles.

Do you stock tiger Trout?

This was fish from the state so no but I have stocked tigers that local clubs have given us.
