What about EPGs in the same bridge domain, do they also need contract or not to communicate with each other, as in the case of EPGs in different BDs they need Contract.

It's not about BD wherever if there is any communication needed between two different EPG(Vlans) on the same VRF -- yes we need to create a Contract.

Question: When throwing everything under an application group, do you still need a contract to be able to communicate between bridge-domains and/or End-Point Groups?

Thatdude164 maybe I think u need it, cuz as i know, inter EPG by default deny action. Then app profiles are mapping to fabrics (underlay setting) So it’s tenants logical mapping physical policies. And final results is EPG consumer provider with contracts explicitly permitted. No mater app profiles contains all EPG inside. If I v wrong. Plz reply thx

If there is a communication needed between two different EPG(Vlans) on the same VRF -- yes of course we need to create an ACI Contract 1. Diff vlan + Same VRF = Need Contract 2. Same Vlan + Same VRF = No need for Contract.

Why keep saying BD (layer 2) imply a subnet (layer 3) also come with it? There is a dhcp? There is a Ip-2-mac gw? Hope that anyone here can shine me a light :) thanks

Cisco is funny, I just hate them. They kill ATM using MPLS, because they lost ATM to Newbridge Networks, now they "invented" multiple EPG on the same subnet, or vlan. Dude, it is a private VLAN !!! Was not it already dome on any catalyst switch...????
