I got my first Contax 139Q in 1982 and I still shoot it today. I have shot many cameras over the years, including the Nikon F series, but my Contax 139Q remains my favourite 35mm SLR.

This was my very first roll and I have to agree. It handles perfecty.

Nice shots. My dad gave me his old Contax 139 Q and I am seeing if I can get it working.

This is a nice camera and lens! The sharp images you get is amazing as it is Carl Zeiss lens! Looks like my Contax RTS! Great location Wes! All you need is to resin the body and it will look new again!

Did they make a shutter release cable for the 139q?
@islandbyfilm3 жыл бұрын
I am sorry but I am not 100% sure if they did or not.
@boredtoday3 жыл бұрын
the regular shutter release cable works fine, they don't have a proprietary one

just bought this lense on ebay for my yashica fx-d quartz, essentially the same camera but made from yashica and the shutter speed dial is on the right side which i prefer... great video, absolutely loved the last shot :) you inspired me to make videos like this, there is not much out there about Contax/Yashica which is kinda ironic because everyone praises Carl Zeiss glass haha

Yep, great lens! I got lucky and picked up a clean one with a Yashica FX-3 Super recently for $20. I wish they made more similar lenses in the same class for Contax. The regular Contax Zeiss glass is heavier/bulkier in comparison to the 50/1.7.

It's my first time hearing that this camera is "not notable". I've mostly read about people calling it the best SLR they ever touched. What do you think makes it "not notable"? I'm interested in the cons of this camera.
@islandbyfilm3 жыл бұрын
By not notable, I mean that the internet doesn’t list this camera amongst the biggest standouts like the Nikons Canons & Leica’s.

Hey, you've got a great find with the 139Q and that cracking Zeiss 50mm lens. I've been into Contax/Yashica since 1980, still use my Contax cameras and Zeiss lenses everyday. The leatherette peeling is common with those models, just need to buy a re-skin kit and you're good as gold. It's cheap and easy to re-skin the camera yourself. I recommend this company, I've had good experiences...www.aki-asahi.com/store/. Cheers from another Canadian (Tokyo based).

That’s fantastic. Thank you so much for the link. I think I will Re-Skin it for sure. Maybe I will do a video of the process thanks again for checking out my channel. 😀
