Thank you for this awesome demo of Plaits. So good to see people showing what the module does rather than trying to use it in a musical context plugged into 30 different things

Absolutely phenomenal. Great video and really good demonstration of what plaits can do. I will rewatch this video again myself looking for those sweet spots which I actually took screenshots when I liked the sounds while watching. Thank you for your hard work!

Thank you for posting this, sir! I took about an hour and a half to write down some notes. I have this module and, as with many modules, I feel as though I'm only using it to 5-10% of it's capacity. It's good to see someone walk through each sound on the module, and what each setting can do. I learned a lot from this. Thank you!

Internal Envelope & LPG: you were turning the 'Harmonics' knob when it should have been the 'Timbre' on the bottom left! Thats why no lights were illuminating when you twisted it. Also, on the 'rhythm' (red light) side, if you send a CV into 'model' while sending a gate into 'trigger', you can get a glitchy percussive style.

One more question about Plaits! Could you patch its output to a Low Pass Gate & get the same notes in a lower octave? or would you need a different/seperate oscillator?
@TheModularClubhouse
@TheModularClubhouse 8 ай бұрын
Good question, as far as I understand Low Pass Gates they will not change the actual pitch of the sound (as in: they work more like a Low Pass Filter that you can trigger and has a vactrol (or similar) controlling the decay). To get sounds an octave lower you can use a pitch shifter (like the 2hp Pitch) or theoretically a clock divider, but a clock divider will significantly impact the sound as typically they have only pulse/trigger/square waves.

I think you described the morph knob setting the lpg (vcfa to vca) but as you were saying that the image of the manual claimed a different knob was used for that. I think it said timbre maybe

great in-depth video, but why demo the drum models with melodies? would've loved to hear them used as actual drum hits to get a sense of their parameter ranges etc.

Hey chaps, I've literally just ordered myself a tiptop happy ending kit and a plaits module but my modular knowledge is very very thin haha Probably a silly question but will I be able to produce sound from the module with only the happy ending kit, or will I need to fork out on anything else be it a module or a controller? I was going to use the moog mother 32 with it but not sure it'll work haha Thanks guys Awesome video I'll defo be checking it out when my gear arrives also subbed 👍
@TheModularClubhouse
@TheModularClubhouse 2 жыл бұрын
No worries, we all started with questions, silly or not ;) So the happy ending kit itself won't produce any sounds as it's just a power supply and a case. Once you then add Plaits to it you can start making sounds. You might want to consider something to sequence Plaits with. You'll have a multitude of options like the Arturia Keystep and Beatstep series if you're going for an external sequencer. Or you can look for a module like the Hermod, Cellz, or any of the others (You can even consider the PHRSR by Super Synthesis) I've got videos on all of these on my channel (with the exception of the Beatstep)

Hello, your video is very interesting... unfortunately your sequences are not always suitable for the type of model concerned. Perhaps you can do a new one with different distinct parts very specific to each model. In any case, thank you very much for giving me the taste to acquire this superb module.🤩

Very informative video. I'm a noob (started looking at this stuff today), so sorry if this is a very dumb question. What are you using for the input, and is it generating the initial notes? I have a midi keyboard, could I get a midi to cv(I think?) converter and then play the keyboard as the base notes that are input into this? It sounds like it can do a lot of very cool stuff.
@TheModularClubhouse
@TheModularClubhouse 2 жыл бұрын
Great question! I'm using a keyboard with a CV and gate out (Arturia Keystep 37) and a sequencer with CV and gate out (Squarp Hermod). If you have a keyboard with only MIDI out you will indeed need to use something that can act as a MIDI-to-CV converter. I have used the Hermod for that but also the Befaco Lich can do that.
