I'll never stop chuckling to myself about how semantically similiar 'personal responsibility', as defined by noteworthy anti-communist Jordan Peterson, is to 'self-reliance' AKA, Juche, the state religion of North Korea. I practice self-reliance too, but like, in practice this means you just immediately see how stupid money is. That seems to be the big mistake most leftists make, they still think money is a real currency. It's not. Your social network is the only real currency these days, and however many tins of sardines you can fit in your larder. Self-reliance, with this mindset, means you work toward the integration and betterment of your immediate communities. The most efficient way, I've found, is to publicly mock people for driving cars. One of my favourite bits of performance art I do is I'll go to a busy street in a busy part of the day and just pace up and down the cars, holding up a hand and putting a finger up every time I do a full pass of all the people stuck in traffic.

From Psychiatrist David Puder, host of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy podcast (paraphrasing). "I was dealing with a domestic abuse client, a man who had hit his wife. Really beaten her. He tried to say he couldn't help himself, he lost control, that he didn't have free will. So I asked 'Then why didn't you kill her?'" Now, to a philosopher, this seems like a non-sequitor, but to a big-dicked philosopher like me who also studied semiotics, semantic nodes, neuroscience, psychology, and philosophy of religion, it makes total sense. It's just a semantic node associated with moral reasoning, it's an illusion, but so is literally every thought.

He's so based. Determinism and free will are not necessarily contradictory. I too believe that everything is deterministic and exclusively dependant of the material conditions, the laws of physics and ones trajectory. Yet at the same time within that unchangeable fate there is a choice, one choice at a time that we always make and always will make. The choice is made by us, but there's always only one available choice. That choice is whatever physics and determinism has set up your brain as a physically possible option for you to think or for you to do, anything else would be breaking the laws of physics.

Well, it's safe to say that Jreg failed on not having a status quo, because by changing status quo to not have a status quo he created his own status quo of changing status quo. In attempting to pin down his chaos, you have failed to have done so. Constant upsetting of the status quo leads to the destruction thereof. Once "normalcy" dies, it is a functionally useless descriptor.

@@a-s-greig both of you are right which means both youe are wrong. Jreg is always correct because there is no objective truth so even if he had a status quo he wouldn't have a status quo simply by claiming he doesn't have one.

@@itshel2677 Jreg himself would superficially agree and moreover disagree with your assessment that "there is no objective truth" and since "Jreg is always correct," there would be nothing to be correct _about,_ since there would be no measure to be correct _against._

Edit: 30:35 sooo do we die now orrrr Dude it’s weird seeing channels that I enjoy collaborate. It’s like I didn’t even know they knew each other existed. It’s especially exciting seeing philosophy youtubers forming a tighter community. Imagine in the future we look back at these KZbinrs the way we do with many of the philosophers of old. Except our generation of philosophers are meme-kings as well as philosopher-kings :^)
