I visited Koh Tao 20+ years ago when I was a little bit older than Ivy. It's still very vivid in my memory. I also went there with my parents. It was very different back then less tourists and infrastructures. I'm sure Ivy will remember. Great Daddy 💕.

Learnt to swim at a young age, in no small part down to the fact that when we lived in Hong Kong, I was 5-7, and there was a pool at the school, which we were in every day. On one of my trips to Phuket I met two guys from Cork, one of which Noel, wasn't much of a swimmer. I chartered a boat, and I got a group of about 5 of us together including the Irish lads, to do some sea fishing, and the itinerary is to stop at an island for lunch, and do some swimming. Noel was saying he was ok, and was going to stay on the boat, but I wasn't about to let him miss this opportunity, there's fish literally everywhere. Strapped a life vest on him, mask and snorkel and assured him I wasn't going anywhere, I'd be by his side. Got him in the water, and slowly he gained confidence to the point where he said he was ok. I left him to do his thing, but kept one eye on him and was always near by. I start hearing noises coming from his snorkel, in rapid succession and thinking he is struggling am about to steam over to him, when his head pops up from the water and even with a snorkel in his mouth I can see he has the biggest grin on his face. He'd been laughing through the snorkel. A small fish had swum right up to his mask and just stayed there. Both of them looking at each other, and he was tickled pink by the experience. Funny how such a simple thing, can completely change someone's outlook. Later that evening over a few beers, he thanked me for convincing him to get in the water. He'd never experienced anything like that in his life before, and he said if I hadn't convinced him to give it a go, he'd have missed out.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback 🥳. The beach is Sairee Beach (I think). There’s a place (in the video) the hotel lobby we walk into and that’s called The Simple Life Cliff View resort and it’s about 3 minutes walk to the right of that. Which, looking at Google maps I believe is Sairee Beach. Ultimately you won’t miss it if you’re in that area as everyone sort of heads there and believe me, it’s one of the coolest places on earth. I really hope you all have a fabulous time. I’m just wrapping up editing our Bangkok video… keep an eye out for that too as that was another place that far exceeded our expectations. All the best

Btw, no expert, but I have picked this up from other channels, there is a filter that people add to their cameras specifically for under water, to add some light bands that the water filters out. I would expect that there are software settings that would likely do the same thing, and really bring out the colour of the underwater footage that you shot.

Fab! Glad you have enjoyed Thailand and planning your next trip! Have been a few times to various parts - (although 10 years ago now since the last time - where does time go ) but not got to Koh Tao yet .. but we are considering spending some time there on our next trip in the New Year - you & your daughter make a fab team - thoroughly enjoyed both your perspectives and the video was really good to watch and informative!

Try to find ur way to Ko Ngam. It is at the southern area of the island. You can paddle the boat to that small island. Or visit the last real untouch beach on the island call Wai Cheak beach. Only if you looking for a real nature area.
