The Log Lady's story is really quite tragic when you think about it. She was changed from a normal, happy child to a quiet, socially awkward introvert due to her mysterious experience in the woods. Then she finds the love of her life only to lose him on the night of their wedding. She offers genuine supernatural insight to the other citizens of Twin Peaks but is generally written off as "eccentric" at best or "the town loony" at worst. I know she's just a fictional character but her story tugs at my heartstrings. I also know a lot of people think of her as a one note character (the crazy woman who carries around a log she talks to) but she's so much more layered and complex than that. I'm so glad you addressed her entire history in this video, giving her the recognition that was long overdue for her. Very well done.
@TakeTheRing4 жыл бұрын
thanks! that was my goal with her segment. you're exactly right: in context of the entire series, the Laura Palmer Diary, the Mark Frost books and The Return, she's one of the central characters of Twin Peaks. and her story is so, so sad - a tragedy, in a way. a person's life being tragic but having a larger impact on the world around them (or sacrificed for the greater good?) is another repeated theme of the TP story - adds weight and tugs at the heartstrings: Laura, Cooper, Briggs, and Margaret, of course.
@ajromero36924 жыл бұрын
@@TakeTheRing You did a great job of presenting Margaret as a full, realized character and the other characters as well. This is a great series you have and I'm glad to have found it because I love the way you go into the themes you mentioned (sacrifice and tragedy) and your research is impeccable. You've got a new subscriber here! :)

I like to think of her as Twin Peaks’ version of the Delphic Oracle: weird but very insightful when you really need it. I often think that, had Laura lived, she might have taken over Margaret’s role as spiritual guide in the town.

13:21 I was in that area about a year ago for work and made a lot of photos for my Twin Peaks web gallery but I was sad to see the rock in front of the sheriff's dept was missing. I asked the lady that works there now (the company that owns that building) and she said it was already missing when they bought the building and they don't know what happened to it 😥 I bet a Twin Peaks fan stole it. 17:23 And the Book House (which is behind the building used as the Roadhouse / Bang Bang Bar in real life) is really run down and dilapidated today. I hope they don't tear it down, but it looks really bad.

So was the log lady's husband the actual fireman/giant, and he was communicating to her through the log? You are awesome at explaining Twin Peaks, thanks for the answers to so many of my questions!
@TakeTheRing2 жыл бұрын
interesting theory, never heard that specifically. my take is that the log is tied to the "magic energy" or whatever you want to call it. I made that animation of Margaret and the gold pond as a nod to this- don't think there's any real evidence in the show that she's related directly to the Fireman? although the book explains more about here abduction, suggesting like Briggs she encountered something like that? so certainly possible

it's a term I've heard over the years. decided to use it in my videos and kind of make it my own. but it's based on other people's observations as well, like the Twin Peaks Archive article. so moving forward, if it's about the Log Lady log, or Josie or the Great Northern, I'll probably talk about it under the "Wood Theory" banner.
