Johnny was the best player for this team. When he's not on the floor japan is pulling away. Alvin is the best offensive player, he creates his own shots while caidic is the best scorer. Defensively the team can't keep up with japan's speed and Codinera was too small at center. Offensively, it was Johnny A creating the plays or Alvin creating his shots. The team shows lack of cohesiveness especially on defense as japan gets too open a lot. This game can be described as Skill vs Strategy.

May iniindang injury si Hector Calma dito. Naiiwanan sya ng mga guards ng Japan. It must be Ronnie Magsanoc instead of the Director. Magsanoc will complement the Philippine snipers like Allan Caidic who was a markman of all the teams in this Hiroshima Asian Games. I prefer the Tower of Power, Benjie Paras who is also a good defender and scorer instead of the Robocop, Alvin Teng. It's also much better if they have Zaldy Realubit instead of Dong Polistico. Cabahug or Al Solis instead of the young and rookie Duremdes. And With good preparation, Philippines could have defeated Korea and Japan.

true... i think after this games.... tinapos na lang ni Calma ang PBA Season 94 then he retired na... parang wala na sia sa PBA by 1995... naka 8 yrs lang sia sa PBA.... si Allan also had a short career... naka 9 years lang sia na contributor pa... yung 10th and 11th year na, role player na sia and was groom na ni Jacobs as Asst Playing Coach. Samboy too, had a short career... si Pumaren pa nga yata ang naka 15 yrs yata sa PBA.

Fundamentals can go a long way. Heck, even "advanced" players must go back to basics. Missed FT by Kapitan deprived the "what if" should the game went to OT. Eight years later, Olsen Racela missed 2 for a better chance of at least a silver finish. Nowadays, pataasan ng shooting rate sa three points. Pero hindi ibig sabihin ignore the importance of FTs. Oftentimes, the game pull a prank to the participants on how and why it's tough to make a 4.5m shot despite uncontested.

No doubt if this had been an RP all star team...players missing were Paras, Solis, Limpot, Meneses and etc. I know this Japan team wouldnt be able to win, si Cap Alvin plays like a Vic Manuel of today (at least si Manuel meron medium range shot) hehehe tipong pang PBA lang talaga ang galawan dahil low post ang laro at di nakaka shoot sa medium range or 3pt. zone pero too short for his position naman....buti ngayon yung gilas cadets marami na 6'5" and above players at di na old school ang laro....galing talagi ni Allan at ni Johnny dito

PH seemed to rely on three players to score. Allan to make threes, Alvin on the post and Johnny transition and midrange. Hope we had Vergel Meneses to increase our scoring options on the wings to clear the post. Jun Limpot could have also helped with his athleticism and some mid range shooting. Magsanoc could also help in point position. Ideal starting line-up: Johnny Abbarientos Allan Caidic Vergel Meneses Jun Limpot/Alvin Patrimonio Marlou Aquino/Jerry Codinera

With due respect sobrang liliit talaga natin sa basketball cordinera at 6'5 playing center. Napansin ko din we're the smaller team pero madalas magdown low or back to the basket and half court set sila. Clearly Japan has the edge in speed length and variety of offense unlike phil rely lng sa dalawa or tatlong players. Nowadays I can say we have the length speed and athletism but other countries too they have length speed athletism and better basketball program while the phil stay stagnant and the so called pro PBA we're dying. Conclusion hindi talaga satin ang basketball fanatics tayo sa basketball pero ang basketball ayaw satin. Patunay jan ang daming ng Asian countries na successful na ang liga nila bringing high caliber imports while satin naging palubog pa at tapunan nlng ng mga basura from other country limited height pa ahaha.
