On the contrary. Women need to learn more so they can understand these topics with greater knowledge of the sources. All the hosts could refer to was "the gedolim" and "mishnah brurah". @@musia2423 I agree that everyone should be more educated on this topic. But most of halacha and especially in this situation is not about president. These topics indeed warrant thoughtful debate. However, I wish the discussion had been conducted between individuals who truly understand the complexities of Judaism, specifically Orthodox Judaism, and how it distinguishes itself from Reform and Conservative movements. An individual who grasps how Orthodox Judaism exists in an ever-evolving world, and understands both the principles of Halakha and the intricate details of the Gemara, would be able to shed light on the varying opinions. So that each side could explain their perspective and we are they are coming from. For example, you could explore the question to what extent does Orthodox Judaism evolve? Such a debate requires someone with in-depth knowledge of the intimate details of Judaism, its nuances, and how they apply to our modern lives. Engaging in this debate without such understanding is like arguing about government policies, without ever learning the basics of economics. It ends up being a shouting match.

@@teshuvahnow2839 It says she lead the women in singing. Rashi on the spot says Miriam taught As Yashir to the women and Moshe taught it to the men. There's no reason to think she was singing in front of the men. Shiras Devorah is a much better argument because it says she sang with Boruch. There are various answers, of course, and they have practical differences in halacha. For example the Sridei Aish held that kol isha doesn't apply to shiros v'tishbachos to Hashem. He says this is the halachic basis for the Yekke minhag for women to sing zemiros at the Shabbos table even when there are guests.

I heard from the mouth of my own neighborhood rav, that when extremists were behaving in a very untorah way (usingvandalismfor example), he was not willing to stand up against them because he just didn't want to get into that fight. He didn't have the strength to fight the good fight. As much as we do not want to accept it, rabanim are human beings. For that very reason, a rav on a beis din who accepted the loan of an umbrella from the defendant in a case took himself off of that case because it might be considered bribery. Politics plays a big part in these issues. Money plays a part in these issues. It's unfortunate but true.

It's not that a community will push a leader to make certain decisions; it's that the threat of a community backlash prevents them from making certain decisions. Every leader today lives within a community bubble, and a leader's authority is dependent on that community. A community must be open to accepting an idea for it's leader to have the freedom to consider it. Even worse is if those a leader's community bubble considers not-good-enough were to cheer for such a leader while the community themselves did not like that leader's decision.

@@JJ-kf4kc I will concede that point, but there are things where halacha has been modified, for example, Yibbum is no longer "allowed", (in Minhag Ashkenaz) and Chalitza must be done. This is what I meant, when saying halacha has changed. Of course Halacha has already been halacha, but over time Rabbonim have had to modified their halachic rulings because they were taken the wrong way. Would you agree?

@@joebein2450 No. Halacha has not changed. Why do you say yibum no longer allowed? It is allowed if they want to get married and the man does not have another wife (due to cheirem d'Rabbeinu Gershom) they could marry and it's a mitzvah to do so. Generally in these cases they choose not to marry so chalitza is done to release the woman. Because halacha never changed and the requirement of yibum did not change therefore chalitzah is done. Edit: some people's custom today is not to do yibum today halacha still never changed, that's why chalitzah is a requirement because yibum is still the halachic requirement.

@chayap.199 men and women can take care of themselves. The ones who need an advocate are the kids. Parental alienation is child abuse. And anyone reading this who thinks they would hand over a Get in a situation where their children's are being used as pawns, manipulated, and their lives quite literally hanging in the balance, are not being truly honest with themselves. Saying you'll only advocate for one side no matter the situation doesn't fix anything, it makes it worse. Nuance and reason is necessary as many of these cases are complex. The "believe all women" nonsense has seeped into our society and it's clearly not helpful. She says laibel should apologize because his words were insensitive to those with trauma. Saying she supports women who alienate their kids from their father because they're women and that's her passion and that alienation doesn't exist is a slap in the face to anyone who has ever been alienated (man or woman). Parental aienation is far more common than get refusal and is often at the root of it

''The one who tried gave that he was forced to divorce his wife and she did not want to divorce. The court of Israel in every place and at every time prepares him until he says "I want" and the get is written and it is a kosher get. And yes, if they beat him and said to him, do what the Israelites tell you, and Israel pressed him with the hand of the Akhu until he expels it, after all it is kosher. And if the akku'' are of their own accord, they will be punished until it is written, and the law allows that it be written, after all, this is illegal. And why didn't this get canceled since it is a rape between the hand of Akku and the hand of Israel. that there is no rape except for the one who is pressured and forced to do something that he is not obligated by the Torah to do, such as the one who was beaten until he sold or until he gave. But the one who is struck will do the evil to cancel a mitzvah or commit a transgression and will be beaten until he does something that he must do or until he turns away from something that is forbidden to do in any other way He was raped by him, but he raped himself in his evil mind. On the other hand, it is that he does not want to be deported because he wants to be of Israel and he wants to do all the mitzvahs and to stay away from the transgressions A dove that was beaten until it was six and said, I want to, I have already banished his will. It was not the law giving that forced him to be banished and the court of Israel erred or that they were laymen and were untouchable until he was banished. And he will finish and be expelled. And if they do, we will force them to evict, which is not according to the law, it is not a divorce. according to what ive read, '' I haven't seen according to halacha where it speaks of a gett being used as leverage , for instance , if a man wants control over his kids, it actually says no where, that he is, or isn't allowed to refuse a get for these reasons, in fact, from what I read, the man must give a get and be forced to give one if he refuses, I think any man who refuses a get for whichever reasons, weather kids involved, or not, is an evil person, since what comes with marriage is sex, and it can technically be considered rape, since a woman cant be forced in to a marriage halachicly, so to a woman should not be held to a marriage which she doesnt want anymore, and force her to stay married, that is a level of perversion, their are so many arguments the rabbis can make to release a woman from this type of coercion, and Flatbush girl has a point, the rabbis need to get together and find a loophole to help these woman that I personally know, example ,where the men want money in exchange for a get, when in reality, that is extortion, and they know the woman cant pay, and the get refuser uses it as leverage to hold power over a woman, thats one of the reasons why I wouldn't get married halachically, its just laziness and no devotion to justice to these woman, on the part of the rabbis, I agree with Flatbush girl , where the rabbis need to sit together and review the torah , its about rabbis having unity, to create a fit for the times , where with the times ,and the abuse that comes with these changes of the times , where these get refusers take advantage of the times, because these days we cant beat a man until he wants to give a get, because of threat of the non jewish authoritys locking those who did the beatings up, so to find a fit and expand upon the halacha as other rabbis throughout history have done , like when rambam went to the communities where they rejected rabbinaccle authority and went strictly just with the written law, judaism can be expanded to fit with the times just like we adapted to using electricity on shabbos, and using it altogether, another point, why dont they invite a dayan in to the conversation, instead of a few yukols who dont know the law www.sefaria.org.il/Mishneh_Torah%2C_Divorce.2.20?lang=he&lookup=he%20one%20who%20tried%20gave%20that%20he%20was%20forced%20to%20divorce%20his%20wife%20and%20she%20did%20not%20want%20to%20divorce.%20The%20court%20of%20Israel%20in%20every%20place%20and%20at%20every%20time%20prepares%20him%20until%20he%20says%20%22I%20want%22%20and%20the%20get%20is%20written%20and%20it%20is%20a%20kosher%20get.%20And%20yes%2C%20if%20they%20beat%20him%20and%20said%20to%20him%2C%20do%20what%20the%20Israelites%20tell%20you%2C%20and%20Israel%20pressed%20him%20with%20the%20hand%20of%20the%20Akhu%20until%20he%20expels%20it%2C%20after%20all%20it%20is%20kosher.%20And%20if%20the%20akku%27%27%20are%20of%20their%20own%20accord%2C%20they%20will%20be%20punished%20until%20it%20is%20written%2C%20and%20the%20law%20allows%20that%20it%20be%20written%2C%20after%20all%2C%20this%20is%20illegal.%20And%20why%20didn%27t%20this%20get%20canceled%20since%20it%20is%20a%20rape%20between%20the%20hand%20of%20Akku%20and%20the%20hand%20of%20Israel.%20that%20there%20is%20no%20rape%20except%20for%20the%20one%20who%20is%20pressured%20and%20forced%20to%20do%20something%20that%20he%20is%20not%20obligated%20by%20the%20Torah%20to%20do%2C%20such%20as%20the%20one%20who%20was%20beaten%20until%20he%20sold%20or%20until%20he%20gave.%20But%20the%20one%20who%20is%20struck%20will%20do%20the%20evil%20to%20cancel%20a%20mitzvah%20or%20commit%20a%20transgression%20and%20will%20be%20beaten%20until%20he%20does%20something%20that%20he%20must%20do%20or%20until%20he%20turns%20away%20from%20something%20that%20is%20forbidden%20to%20do%20in%20any%20other%20way%20He%20was%20raped%20by%20him%2C%20but%20he%20raped%20himself%20in%20his%20evil%20mind.%20On%20the%20other%20hand%2C%20it%20is%20that%20he%20does%20not%20want%20to%20be%20deported%20because%20he%20wants%20to%20be%20of%20Israel%20and%20he%20wants%20to%20do%20all%20the%20mitzvahs%20and%20to%20stay%20away%20from%20the%20transgressions%20A%20dove%20that%20was%20beaten%20until%20it%20was%20six%20and%20said%2C%20I%20want%20to%2C%20I%20have%20already%20banished%20his%20will.%20It%20was%20not%20the%20law%20giving%20that%20forced%20him%20to%20be%20banished%20and%20the%20court%20of%20Israel%20erred%20or%20that%20they%20were%20laymen%20and%20were%20untouchable%20until%20he%20was%20banished.%20And%20he%20will%20finish%20and%20be%20expelled.%20And%20if%20they%20do%2C%20we%20will%20force%20them%20to%20evict%2C%20which%20is%20not%20according%20to%20the%20law%2C%20it%20is%20not%20a%20divorce.&with=Lexicon&lang2=he
