Good question. I was about to do it last year but will do it this year.

Great video ,when youve put lid on reservoir after doing brakes i presume you just pump brake lever to put the pressure back in.
@REDonVFR4 ай бұрын
By pumping brake lever the fluid fills cavities where it should be and pushes the air out. There is no "air pressure" but only under the lid. This way the system is closed and uses only air/vacuum that is there. So, there is no need to pump the lever, maybe only to check if everything was done and sealed correctly.

Nice video, just a point to note on chain tension, the Honda service manual says chain tension should be checked and done with bike on side stand, a little odd but there you go ? Just done my chain and sprockets on 2015 VFR, very straight forward, next is oil and brake/clutch fluids. Thanks.

I find it therapeutic doing the maintenance myself... Actually it makes sense the bike needs to be on the kick stand because of the load on the rear. There is no load with the bike being on the center stand.

Copy and paste below from the Honda Owners Manual which says to do the Drive Chain slack on the CENTER stand. However the Honda Shop Manual says to do it on the SIDE stand. 🤷 I always used the Owners Manual center stand way, but perhaps it's worth doing it one way, then checking it the other way and see if there's actually any significant difference... maybe there's not, so it doesn't matter? Weird that the 2 manuals don't say the same thing though. Inspecting the Drive Chain Slack Check the drive chain slack at several points along the chain. If the slack is not constant at all points, some links may be kinked and binding. Have the chain inspected by your dealer. 1. Shift the transmission to Neutral. Stop the engine. 2. Place your motorcycle on its center stand on a firm, level surface. 3. Check the slack in the lower half of the drive chain midway between the sprockets. Drive chain slack: 1 - 1 3/8 in (25 - 35 mm) u Do not ride your motorcycle if the slack exceeds 1 15/16 in (50 mm). 4. Rotate the rear wheel and check that the chain moves smoothly.

Nice one buddy. I love my VFR but don't have the confidence to do this. May give it a go now though. Thank you.

@@SemteVruchte I decided to do some maintenance jobs that many people don't think about. Many don't adjust the chain, others don't change brake fluid (like myself, but now I will since I learned how to do it 😀).
